Although it was a tad too long, I loved this film, the characters, the cinematography, the wonderful cast. Loved it.
At Wandsworth, the cinema was 90% full and all stayed till the end. 8.5/10

Oh dear they can't even give it away! I forgot to score it 5/10, can't really add much more to what other people have said. It's an interesting drama but way too long. I can't understand how it's a box office smash in France?? Maybe with all that french kissing...lol
Interesting though to see how Guillaume Canet has progressed along since his days acting alongside Leo Di Caprio in the Beach

maybe because it's a French movie, and we do like French movies :D

seriously, I think it's mostly because of its cast, you may know only Canet and Cottilard but all the other actors are actually well beloved in France; plus this is Canet's comeback after the excellent Ne le Dis a Personne/Tell No one.

I was reading a review and they also mentioned that its well thought release date contributed to make it a box office hit, as it was released 1 week before half term and way before Tangled and Harry Potter 7.1!

and that would be a nice 8/10 for me!

I did not realise it lasted 2h30!

To answer a question raised earlier, yes we do kiss very often in France... it varies from 2, 3 to 4 kisses for each greetings, depending where in France you are from
I usually do 2, I am from Paris!

I loved the soundtrack (and appreciated Mathieu Chedid/M cameo at the very beginning!) and I think I read somewhere Guillaume Canet actually wrote some the original songs, I did not bother me that they were not in French, though!

This movie made me laugh out loud at times and cry by the end; Max reminded me so much of my prick of father and this bunch of friends could have been us... I miss you my friends

Edit: I am surprised most of you think Francois Cluzet looks like Dustin Hoffman, never thought of him like that! He was playing the lead character of Ne le Dis a Personne/Tell No One, if you guys remembered
Edit 2: I counted 27 people at Holloway's screen 1 this morning... less than 10% full!

I loved this film! I got tickets to take my mum mainly, because she's a french teacher and loves all things french. i didn't think i'd enjoy it and i honestly loved it. i thought it was brilliantly acted, i didn't think the end was ott as someone else remembered, i thought it was how it would be, at least i know i've been in situations like that so i know what it's like.

totally agree on the dustin hoffman thing, that's exactly what we said on the way home! also that Cottilard looks like a young susan sarrandon and that the guitarist (mm lovely!) was reminiscent of a young cat stevens.

i might get this on dvd when it's out!

I really liked this movie, but 4 people walked out in Guildford, one couple I was quite happy when they left as they'd been having a conversation throughout most of the time they were there.

I can't believe I missed you again this morning! :giggle: I was at Holloway too and thought it was such a shame, only 10% full. Where were you sitting? I was sitting on the last row of the better seats, on the right of the screen by the aisle. My mum suddenly had a coughing fit, so hope it did not disturbed you too much!

8/10 from me too! I loved this film. Even though it was 2 hours and 30 minutes, it went by very quickly for me. It was poignant, sad and funny.

I remember when I was in Brazil, they kissed 5 times for greetings and goodbyes! So it took a very long time when there were a few of us! :D
