Theres no doubt Cate Blanchett can act but this film was rubbish! I should be kinder and just say 'meh'....it just didnt have any oomph for me. I did feel a tad sorry for her at the end though, poor deluded woman! 3/10

the best ensemble acting in any film i have seen this year.

betrayal after betrayal after betrayal.

it shows woody allen's skill in not letting it descend into farce. his most human film since anna & her sisters.

a staggering portrayal by cate blanchett...."i would like to thank the academy" speech probably already written.

9/10 Classy.

Saw this in a busy Showcase Glasgow with karenlg123 for company.
I really enjoyed this film as the story was good and the acting very good, particularly Cate Blanchet. She certainly could get a nomination . . . and maybe even win! I think this film could be remembered as one of Woody Allen's best films and certainly the best for a while! :star: I would certainly not have been unhappy if I'd pa*d to see Blue Jasmine!
Marks 9/10

BTW, I was sitting beside a medical phenomena . . . a woman with 'sleep appnoea' while awake!!! Every few minutes she gasped for air and loudly sniffed!!!! Grrr! :wall:

What a horrid little film. Unsatisfying. Self-indulgent. Pointless. Typical Wooden Allen fayre.

A miss from me.

Isn't it strange how different we see the same film?
Is it perhaps an east / west split . . .at least in Scotland? :p

 I have to say I too was not overly impressed in advance with the thought of a Woody Allen film but was totally proved wrong by Blue Jasmine!

As always very impressed with Cate Blanchett - she was annoying, beautiful, ugly, charming, naive, disillusioned, delusional all in less than two hours and she was convincing to a point of me wanting to just slap her out of it all.
But it wasn't just her. I thought the casting throughout was fantastic and the story told just right.

This wasn't what I was expecting at all but it was a very thought-provoking film. I felt equal measures of sorrow and intense dislike for Jasmine yet despite this I still wanted her to move on from her traumas and I was captivated by her journey. A very strong supporting cast too. I didn't like the ending as I felt it was left too open, but this is still a worthy 8 out of 10.

I don't like Cate Blanchett and I really don't like Woody Allen and therefore I am surprised that I actually enjoyed this film. Enough of a wee story to keep you going and have to say that Cate was superb with all the different aspects of the character she played. There were times in the film where it seemed as if she was acting as Katherine Hepburn acting the part! Strange but not bad. Was surprised to see a few folk walk out before the end. Why watch almost all the way through and THEN leave? The ending not completely satisfactory as it was just too abrupt. Well done Woody (even tho I still don't like him). And yes... I also think Cate will be up for the awards for this role.

The only disconcerting thing was wondering if McG was going to launch herself at the woman sitting next to her and force her to use a box of tissues! 7/10

I certainly did consider offering her a tissue! I think that's the mum/teacher in me! :p
