No. The Battle of Helm's Deep was a collective Battle Against Deep Sleep. But other than that it was a great experience!

I'll write more when I can think straight again.

I didn'g get up until 10am today (a record, recently). So essentially I slept for the duration that you were watching movies!

Sleep deprivation is not fun. Gosh my mind is mush this morning, everything feels hazy.

Even though this was 3 hours longer, I found the LOTR all nighter easier to stay awake through than the Final Destination all nighter.

Alright I am actually somewhat awake now to properly comment on the Lord of the Rings all-nighter:

We were sitting in the last row (P) towards the side which initially I thought would be quite annoying but in the end it was absolutely fine. We had no one else in our row (3 people spreading out over 6 seats FTW!) and no one behind us so we could hang out coats over the seats and didn't have any problems with people kicking seats. In fact in general the audience was being really great! I didn't notice any phones being whipped out (though funthing29 did see someone doing this) and there wasn't a lot of talking/noise except for cheers at the start of the films and applause at the end. In fact the only people annoyingly talking loudly was the cinema staff themselves when they sat down on some folding chairs at the back of the room.

I don't think there is much point in me actually reviewing the movies as (mostly) everyone will known them, but some quick thoughts:

Even after not having seen the films for many, many years more often than not I knew the lines by heart just before they were being said, only shows how memorable they are! And for the first time I started noticing a lot of errors. Mostly storyline wise (tsk tsk tsk Tolkien), but sometimes production wise.

FotR is still my favourite film as it introduces us to the amazing Middle Earth, introduces us to the key characters and has quite a few scenes in the Shire (I love the hobbits so <3).

TTT is my least favourite of the three as it primarily focuses on a battle that takes up only a few chapters in the book and I couldn't care less. I also don't care much for the Théoden/Wormtongue storyline (likewise Denethor in film 3, those corrupted kings/stewards only work on my nerves). This is therefor also the movie during which I caught up with some much needed sleep...

RotK was better than I remembered it and a very close 2nd favourite. Even the 7 endings didn't bother me and seemed to suit the movie well (though some of the black screens between the endings lingered too long). It was however the first time I didn't shed a tear during the goodbye scene between Frodo and the other Hobbits or when Gandalf said "Not all tears are an evil". May be because of sleep deprivation though.

In all it a great experience seeing them all in a row, but I think I would've appreciated them more had it started early afternoon instead of at midnight when I was already somewhat tired.

How on earth do you get any sleep when there is a roaring battle on screen!?! I agree TTT is my least favourite too but I still love it and the extended edition makes it a far more richer film than the theatrical release but then I guess you would have slept an extra hour if they had shown that version! Glad you enjoyed the whole experience. I've done several all nighters in the past but I dont think I can manage it these days not even for Star Wars.

lol its wierd, that battle at Helms Deep had me snoozfesting TWICE in cinemas (though I have seen TTT 3 times now in total, back when I used to p*y for cinema just before I started studying again).

The book covers Helms Deep so much better, so visual as opposed to the dull lit film version with its crappy comedy scenes. Its inferred that Helm actually turns up to spook the enemy 8O (if you know who Helm is).
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

I love the battle scenes (though I prefer the Minas Tirith ones in ROTK) so I was awake through those but I had a short 15 minute or so doze in the bits leading up to the battle.

To be fair this was kind of problematic. Every time I nodded off there would be a giant explosion waking me up! Really annoying and highly inconsiderate :p
