Yeah, we decided to sit at the front in the end. The screen looks tiny and really far away when you are at the back.valda wrote: Who's idea was it to put us in that shitty screen we had to see Inception in? the screen is so low that the bottom third is taken up by heads, so you can't read the subtitles![]()

Re: World War Z
So apparently this was the first screening EVER and the press that were there were international press who flew in from around the world. Also Brad Pitt introducing the film was apparently a complete surprise.
The film was INSANE. Brad Pitt promised the most intense film of the summer, I'm going to go out on a limb and say he delivered. I was tensed up in my seat the entire time, absolutely loved it. My friend also really enjoyed it, we had to go to a cafe for a tea afterward just to calm ourselves down! I liked that they took a different approach to the genre, really makes me want to read the book now. Thought it was really well done, those reshoots absolutely did the trick, for whatever they needed them for. Thought it was funny to see
Matthew Fox in a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo. I actually just thought it was a guy who looked like him until I saw the end credits!
And the pepsi bit was quite funny. Loved that it had a purpose. And the bits of the score done by Matt Bellamy were AWESOME.
Does this top Star Trek for me? No, but it comes close, and that's really saying something. Would definitely recommend, but know that Brad called it genre-bending, and that's absolutely the case. This is no generic zombie movie.

Re: World War Z
It was a treat to see Brad Pitt in the flesh but I don't think I enjoyed this as much as other people.
The 3D felt pretty pointless and the pacing really slowed down in the second half. Lots of plot holes and daft scenes, I actually had to laugh out loud at some points. It was not as scary as Brad had implied in his introduction.
A refreshing look at the zombie stereotype
these seemed more like super-zombies, with the ability for speed, jumping and identifying diseased humans
but it has no distinguishing features. I would have liked some memorable dialogue or characters. Mindless viewing nonetheless and there are worse ways to pass 2 hours.
6/10.

Re: World War Z
I had never been to that screen in the empire before and had to sit 3 rows from front as only place could get 2 seats together. Was happy as was close to brad.
But now reading what people are says in about bad view because of people heads I'm glad I did.
Note to self if ever in this screen (number2) never sit near back.
And have to agree with others 3d wasn't needed. Only few things that came flying towards us. (Which was one well for once) but why spend all the extra money on it ??

Re: World War Z
we should have remembered the last time we were in that screen that sitting at the front would have been a better idea. Inception was put in there, whilst Avatar, a year after its release was in the big screen
So I've remembered the other bit that was making me laugh
Cardiff Airport
Wasn't it the screen we were when we saw Madagascar 3, Val?
We were 2nd row and the 3D was amazing from there!

Oh I forgot about that, yeah last night, we were 3rd row from the back. There again, Animation 3d is so much better than 'real person' 3dCelini wrote:Wasn't it the screen we were when we saw Madagascar 3, Val?

Re: World War Z
Well this was bloody intense. And I totally jumped up in my seat several times (sorry to those sitting on either side of me during the screening
). I enjoyed it though, despite it probably being a little more jumpy than I would normally prefer to see in a film and it being extremely dark due to the 3D.
7.5
It was nice to see Brad Pitt (or, as he will know forever be known thanks to funthing29, Brad Fitt) though his appearance wasn't much of a surprise, I totally called it the day the tickets went live

I did as well, but managed to talk myself into believing it wasn't going to happen just so I wouldn't be super disappointed if it didn't!canadian_turtle wrote:Well this was bloody intense. Re: World War Z
First time there and already hating the small screen. The guy in front of me was taking up a third of the screen with his huge head.
With that out of the way now on to the movie. I actually really liked it. I'm not much of a scary movie person, but I've been known to enjoy a zombie apocalypse or two, and this was yet another that I found fun despite jumping in my seat a few times and worrying am going to come across some zombies on my way home. Brad Pitt was a treat both on and off screen, so all in all am very happy Valda took me as her +1 - Thank you!!!
