Re: What We Did On Our Holiday
Really enjoyed it. Very predictable but highly entertaining.
Glad I've seen it and it reminded me of my family though my kids are younger.

Re: What We Did On Our Holiday
Scenery aside this was terrible. A predictable cliche ridden film worked around a ludicrous and unbelievable central plot point. The entire cast were playing nothing more than caricatures. A few funny lines, but overall this is the worst film I've seen in quite a while - 3/10

Re: What We Did On Our Holiday
Great film with laugh out moments. Kids were cute and more sensible then some of the adults around them. Billy C great actor as always. Would happily watch this again. Greenwich odeon only about 50% filled.

Re: What We Did On Our Holiday
Went to the showing at the Vue Livingston tonight. Cinema was full. Really enjoyed the movie and as a great fan of Outnumbered I was unaware at the time that it was by the same team. I had commented afterwards that it was very similar with the improvisation so now I know why since reading other feedback. Thought all the actors were excellent and Billy Connolly was his usual natural self. The two youngest children were hilarious and the oldest daughter played her part really well. So many funny moments and even although the subject should have been sad, I was just pleased that he got his burial wish. Would definitely recommend and would happily watch it again.

Really enjoyed my 2nd viewing as much, if not more than 1st time. The audience laughed at all the right times and everyone I know who saw it tonight really enjoyed it too.

Re: What We Did On Our Holiday
Finally, saw this last night!
Thanks to elski, went to the premiere at Odeon West End. Managed to wedge myself at the front of the barriers between the photographers and the meet and greet pen, so got a great view of all the stars arriving and getting their photos taken. On the red carpet was all the stars of the film David Tennant, Rosamund Pike, Billy Connolly, Ben Miller, Amelia Bullmore, and the kids: Harriet Turnbull, Bobby Smalldridge and Emilia Jones. Also saw Vanessa Feltz with her partner, Ben Ofoedu (singer-songwriter) and hardly recognise Ramona Marquez (the little girl from Outnumbered, a teenager now!), and Daniel Roche (Ben from Outnumbered - the curly haired one).
Then it was time to get seated, as I walked on the red carpet, we passed Rosamund Pike and David Tennant being interviewed.
Then bumped into Hugh Dennis (the father in Outnumbered) inside by the bar and after the film caught up with him again and Clive Anderson. On our way out, Billy Connolly walked past us, surrounded by security guards. So even though we got really naff seats right at the back of the cinema, we got a good close up with them on the red carpet, and in the cinema.
Charming, sweet and funny, also poignant. Great cast and great script. The children are the sensible ones and the adults are the ones misbehaving. Loved the scenes where the kids interact with the grandfather. 8/10

Re: What We Did On Our Holiday
Cringeworthy and uninteresting! I didn't enjoy this but the scenery was lovely and Tennant was good but the story was cliché and also in parts ridiculous. Still, Scotland is lovely when it doesn't rain!

Re: What We Did On Our Holiday
Whilst I appreciate everyone has different tastes I have to say that I'm really not getting the almost universal love this particular film has been getting.
Watching this wasn't exactly a painful experience but it was certainly quite dull & filled to the brim with direction, characters & performances that managed to be both lazy & lifeless in equal measure (admittedly it wasn't quite as bad as say 'Pudsey The Dog' but it was definitely in the same ball park).
As for the kids, well I thought that delivery wise they were wooden and their emotional range was incredibly limited. Maybe I could be more forgiving if I hadn't seen some really top notch performances from other child actors in the past (for example Pierce Gagnon in Looper) but as I have I just can't bring myself to make any allowances as far their acting is concerned.
On a more positive note this film had a relatively low running time and my fellow audience members certainly seemed to be enjoying this film a lot more than I did but overall it barely did enough to get a 5/10 from me...
