Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
So i've wrriten up everything. It's only in the spoiler becuase its REALLY long.
Well let's start at the beginning then.
Wednesday I got to Trafalgar square really early and it was a massive queue and after several hours we got our wristbands. We did just sit on the pavement because we were so tired. Just glad it didn't rain too bad because we didn't have any umbrellas on us. Got home around 5/6 and then just sorted out a few things and got my stuff ready for Thursday. We had planned to leave around 4ish and get a bus, but it was around 1am that I had nothing else to do and because I thought I shouldn't go to bed, I just decided to rest but dozed off and woke up at 4.30 but then rushed and managed to get the train to charring cross and got there about 6ish.
We had wristbands so got to go straight down. There were still people sleeping so we kind of moved forward as much as we could, trying to get a spot as close to the front. We managed to get a spot about the tenth row from the front at around 7 but around 8 something we managed to move forward to the 5th row I think but couldn't move after that because I was so squashed so from then on I had to stand!! It was actually a good spot so I didn't eat/drink incase i had to go toilet and then not be able to come back. But i kept nudging forward when I could, and there were mostly friendly people around except for a few idiots, so it wasn't too bad. I think around 3ish people were getting quite testy and everyone was pushing. The security guy even came and said to save our energy for when the stars come as everyones going to start pushing then. I think by then I had managed to get to the third row from the front.
I was talking to this woman next to me and saying how normally at the premiers it rains like crazy and we were lucky this year that its been very little. And within 2 minutes it started POURING and from then on the rain mocked us. As soon as we had our umbrellas down and tried to dry off in the sun, it would start pouring again. Funnily enough though i was only soaked on the left side of my body as the water had been dripping of the end of someones umbrella. I had a big umbrella so i let some younger girls come in as well. Having been there for so long, I think everyone was getting really tired and annoyed, I think i saw at least 4 or 5 people around me in proper tears.
Also in the rush everyone's stuff was on the floor too. Like their sleeping bags etc. I even saw bottle of water and bags of salad just strewn about. My foot kept getting caught in some green silvery long thing. When i tiptoes to see what was going on, someone had already moved forward so when i put my feet down, I stepped on someones toes. In the end i just stood on someones bag and that gave me 3 cms height but it was better than nothing. Never have I envied other peoples height more than now.
Oh and then paramedics tired to take this girl in a wheelchair out through the crowd but they didn't get very far as no one could move because everyone was squashed worse than sardines. And then later some other girl who was collapsing or something was trying to get out with the help of her friend who was shouting and swearing at the people who couldn't move and saying how they were animals who don't care about others. I think it was just a mix of people being there for days, not eating or sleeping properly but no one was playing nice anymore.
When the stars started arriving, rupert was first, it got even crazier. The people in the front row must have been getting squashed or something because they were pushing back like crazy and trust me they weren't little people either. One of them even started kicking with her big boots and she hurt one girl really bad who started crying so security came and literally grabbed her by her hood and dragged her out of the crowd!! Another girl got punched in the face. I also heard that someone got knocked over and had to be taken out on a stretcher or something because they couldn't move.
I only saw myself on the big screen for a little while but I was behind this big lady who had a big crazy wig that was redish orange. She gave a lot of interviews so I guess the crazy look worked for her.
Anyways to the good stuff:
Because I was stuck in the crowd pen I didn't actually see Diagon Allen, I would have loved to though. I saw up close and got autographs of Rupert, Dan, Oliver, Helena, Micheal Gambon, Tom, Matthew Lewis, Evanna, Jason, the kid who played the young grindewald. Have to say that Dan is really short in person. I saw the others too but they didnt really come on our side. When JK Rowling was on stage some cameramen set up right n front of us so obviosuly she didnt even come on our side. Loved their interviews though.
It did annoy me that people who have never bothered to go to the other premieres were in front but I supposed they did stay over. If I could have I would have but not everyone had 4 days to spare. That said I think i did quite well to get to the second/third row seeing as i only got in that morning.
Anyways we left after everyone disappeared, got McDonalds and got the bus back. I got home after 9ish, had a quick shower and went to bed. I was SO tired and aching in so many places after having been shoved, kicked and nearly srangled by someones arm at one point and not sitting down or eating or drinking for over 14 hours, I was so glad to see my bed. But as it turns out exhaustion is really good for a long sleep. Woke up late the next morning not as sore but still tired and achy.
I think all in all it was a wicked day. Although I did regret not being able to see the movie before it came out and meet the other FMUKkers, I HAD to come to the premier. There was absolutely no way I could have missed it. It was a well deserved send off. I think for me it's been nearly 13 years that I dicovered Harry Potter so it really has been a massive massive part of my life. Probably the longest thing I've been committed to.
I have yet to see the movie though. I don't know how i'm going to feel when it all ends so i'm kind of delaying it but i do really want to see it.
Wow, really enjoyed reading that. So interesting how feelings differ in the crowd around you. Sounds frightening too. With aggression seeping through some people, no doubt because many succombing to a delirious state having stood there for days and likely malnourished during that time too.
But well done you, for getting all those top signatures! I laughed at how you "find" yourself closer and closer to the front
Very cunning! Sweet of you to shelter the young girls with your umbrella. What an unforgettable experience that must have been for you.
Well what you did was pretty awesome and you join Weirdy and Aruif as official fmuk Ambassadors to the world of Harry Potter

I really enjoyed the film. Alot of people critised the ending with them all grown up. I think it was meant to be taken in jest, me and my lady found it really funny.

Whilst not a perfect film, i would definitely say this a suitable ending to a saga :)

What a way to go! Of course they had to cut a lot from the book, but it was a very good movie. I particularly loved the bit telling the history of Snape and when Harry finds the remembrance stone. 8/10 for me.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
I have just seen this for the second time and wouldn't hesitate to watch it again. My 7 year old has been hassling me about it ever since I saw it the first time (22 Jul) so having checked on IMDB to remind myself of the bits in the film which made it a 12A we decided between us that it would be okay for him to see it. After watching it he said that he wasn't scared at all and thought it was brilliant. I did put my hands over his ears at the one offensive word during the film but he heard it anyway!
