I let this one slide only because this is my fave Tolkien book - I read it long before I even knew that the Lord of the Rings even existed. It's less complicated and long but so full of exciting creatures and adventures.

There was an article in the Telegraph at the weekend with a photo of all the hobbits, including James Nesbitt!

Can't wait to see this! Peter Jackson can do no wrong with Tolkien material in my eyes. :D

December 2012 is going to be a looooong wait. :(

I haven't seen any proper pics yet with all the dwarves (which is what I assume you mean, as they're not hobbits :P). Was it something else than this blurry picture?

OOps! Shows how awake I was when I skim read it.

No, it was a proper photos but they were not in costume. It was on aboput how there were 2 Scots, 2 Irish, 4 Kiwis, 1 Englishman and 1 American (from memory),

I can't remember if it was the Telegraph or the Sunday Telegraph magazine - I think it was Saturday - sorry I can't check as passed papers to M-in-law.

Not been a big fan in the past, hence the 1/2 interest - sorry!

I'd think you'll find it on Telegraph website?

Ah okay, if they weren't in costume I haven't been p*ying proper attention either :P To be honest I am not a huge fan of the book myself (I much prefer the more complicated Silmarillion and the Lord of the Rings), but I am so in love with Middle Earth as created by Peter Jackson and stoked at the prospect of seeing some of my favourite characters/actors return (and some new favourites have joined such as Martin Freeman, Lee Pace, Benedict Cumberbatch and Aidan Turner) I'm trying to keep on top of the news that's slowly trickling in in regards to casting/costumes/locations/character looks etc.

I've been posting stuff about the Hobbit on Videos we like thread. Didnt want to start a thread as it was too early but deep down, I am glad you started it!

So I'll just take the liberty to repost the awesome Peter Jackson video production diaries with glimpses of proper film footage. And like Beate, the Hobbit is one of my favourite childrens's book too!

My cousin tried to get me to read The Hobbit back when i was so young that reading hurt my brain. To this day i still havnt attempted to restart it.

I havn't ready any of the middle earth books but regardless, the films made me a fan of Middle Earth mythology (watched the extended 12 hour dvd boxset in one sitting), so yeah, i'm looking forward to the new installments. And the fact that i havn't read it will be an advantage
