Fright Night

#1 Post by superhero » Sat Jun 25, 2011 10:18 pm

Just did a survey to give feedback about this film. I found the trailer quite odd, starts off like a teen comedy but then actually its a vampire horror film. I did tell them I am not a big Colin Farrell fan. Anyone watched the 1985 original?

Yes. I loved the original. I think Colin Farrell and David Tennant will struggle to better the performances of Chris Sarandon and Roddy McDowall in the original. Haven't seen it for a few years (I expect it hasn't dated well) but I recall it's mix of comedy and horror was pretty effective. Agree that the two don't exactly seem to mix very well in the new version judging by the trailer. In fact the comedy aspect has either been almost completely toned down or they're just downplaying it or the trailers (Comedy Horror is a tough sell at the box office I think). If nothing else the trailers for this make me want to watch the original again.

I did do a small article for the first trailer back in May http://www.thefilmpilgrim.com/trailers/ ... ailer/3614

They might do a few free screenings for this then, as horror comedy might be a tough sell

Given that it'll be doing a push at ComicCon, it's almost set to be a film made on word of mouth, so previews most likely will happen.

Just an "interesting" tidbit for you lot: David had to be sewn into the leather pants he's wearing. Who cares about the plot anyway? ;)
