Really don't know too much about this film. Have skim read the beginning so I don't spoil it.
I hope it doesn't glorify gang violence. I watched City of God for the first time and although I love these kinda films, they leave you a little sad.

Absolutely marvellous - this is easily the best film I've seen all year. Michael Caine does the Gran Torino, and boy, how he does it!

10/10 :D

Gran Torino was a great film, this wasn't. :(
I thought Micheal Caine's performance in the first half was great but the second half struck it was like the orange trailers before the films, where the actor has to go through with something because he signed up it. There's not much plot and there's a slight twist at the end but doesn't do a great deal but feel a bit 'meh' no great shock as they thought might be intended. The film seems to be at cross purposes, incredibly grim showing how bad the gang violence is and at the same time totally revelling in the bloodlust bits and seeminlgy glorifying it.

I'll give 6/10 as the first half was ok and I enjoyed it as much as couples retreat last week so shall give it the same.

This film was great. I loved every bit of it. Great story line, kept me interested and great acting from Sir Michael Caine.

I would give it 9/10 based on enjoyment. For those of you who are wondering whether to see this or Jennifers Body on the clash day, the choice is obvious.

Sir Michael can do no wrong for me. Great film, don't normally cope with violence very well, but it was pitched right in this movie.
9/10 Saw this at Odeon Birmingham. Cinema 95% full

Saw this last night at Wester Hailes almost full. Yes there was a lot of violence but you sensed the anger and frustration of an old man who could not get to the hospital in time to see his wife before she died just because he could not take the shortcut through the underpass full of the "yobs". Also his only friend was constantly harrassed and finally killed by them in the tunnel and they took video of it on their phones. Sir Michael Caine played the part brilliantly and for me was one of the best films I have seen this year.

Well worth going to see.

9 out of 10 o/

Interesting - perhaps I should not be reading these reviews as we don't see this one for a while yet! I agree with all those who have said Gran Torino was a great film - I just didn't know if this one could be as good.

I am a little nervous about the violence - but still looking forward to the film.
Glad to see some very positive reviews so far.

I thought it was a great performance from Caine but I'm not 100% convinced by the film coming together as a whole.

It is violent although I was far more put off by the junkies shooting up.

It was all a little surreal as I saw this at Wester Hailes odeon in Edinburgh which has got a bit of a trainspotting reputation although it's not as bad as it was!

I think the film was trying to be contemporary but elements drifted back to the Estates of the 80s.

My jury is out overall I just can't make my mind up. still, having seen a trailer this week for jennifer's body anyone swithering over what to see next week, I think Harry will beat Jennifer!

I went to the Harry Brown screening Tuesday night at the Odeon, Brighton. They put it in the tiny screening room (seats about 100 tops) and as far as I could tell they turned loads of people away. Then once we were seated we were told the courier didn't deliver the film and they would show District 9 instead. Gutted!! About 15 people got up and left straight away. Not my kind of film, never wanted to see it, but dammit, I was there and I'd have to pay for parking either way so I was bloody well watching it! Didn't really enjoy, but hey ho. During the duration of the film I'd say a good 20 people got up and left.

But just got tickets for Harry brown in Crawley next week, bit of a trek but hopefully worth it.

And that damn courier better be more reliable this time...............
