I know other people enjoyed this but I thought it was silly nonsense. It tries to be a romantic comedy but I just found it to be unfunny, superficial and a feeble attempt to put a modern spin on Austen. 4/10.

I absolutely loved this. It was adorable and funny and exactly the uplifting feel-good film I needed after an otherwise rubbish day. It also didn't hurt that both JJ Feild and Bret McKenzie were very, very cute in it. Would happily watch this again straight away! 9/10 (purely because of its entertainment value)

I was surprised by just how much I enjoyed this movie, despite being light weight & incredibly fluffy it made me laugh on a regular basis (although much of the humour seemed to be accidental by nature) and time wise it really didn't outstay it's welcome.

Overall I thought this was a decent romantic comedy which did just enough to warrant getting a 7/10 from me...

This was ok, in fact I think I enjoyed it more than Sunshine On Leith
Worrying thing was that I was the only one in the screen in a cinema on a saturday night, and it was a massive screen too.

I'd love to give this a go and from the sound of it, would enjoy it more than did the professional critics. However, it's a vicious circle: it seems not to showing at many locations and those which do have it have few performances, so at this rate it won't get much word-of-mouth either.

It was not a great film but I found it greatly entertaining. No need for too much thinking, for analysis, just plaster a smile on, slip into something comfy and go for an easy-watching ride.

it felt like a tv movie, but its always nice to see a pretty 19th century themed movie on the big screen so I am not complaining. I liked the way they blended the modern with the historical setting with modernity always threatening to overspill into the Austen setting with quite funny results - don't pick the pornstar, Jane! lol - more could have been made of this and it would have made it a much better movie IMHO. The BBC's Lost in Austen did this and was far better than this and thats on youtube ... and probably cost more to make!

I was wondering how bizarre it would be to walk into this movie missing the start, but knowing nothing about the plot.... so you'd pick up with Jane already in Austen land and you'd be thinking it was a genuine period movie.... the look of puzzlement on the face of the newcomer when they keep seeing references to modernity....
