Went the premiere and Q&A last night at Curzon Chelsea. They actually had a small red carpet out on the pavement.

Gripping and visually stunning documentary surrounding the Virunga National Park in Congo, it's history, rebel wars, poachers and struggles. In the heart of it is the last remaining mountain gorillas. An intimate drama, not just raising awareness, but a need to remedy and take action, a very strong message comes across from the film and from the Q&A, for all of us to stop the petroleum conglomerate SOCO and protect the gorillas and the Park following the recent discovery of oil in it's lakes. In the film there is unequivocal proof. 8/10

Lots of conservationists here, no doubt, as the film received a standing ovation for it's director, the gamekeeper (who survived an attack, shot 7 times), the caretaker of the gorillas and the young French girl journalist, who all appeared in the film, attended the Q&A afterwards.

Sir David Attenborough is also supporting the cause.

SOCO seems to have updated their website and counters that media speculation is inaccurate and says they no longer operate in the area.
