Hawke plays Reverand Toller, priest of the First Reformed church, a small but historically significant church operated by the much larger Abundant Life group. As the 250 year anniversary of the church is approaching, Abundant Life are planning a big celebration of the First Reformed, financed by, and heavily geared towards the Balq company, which Toller finds have questionable morals.
Couple this with ongoing health concerns, a blighted past, and trying to help a young pregnant woman having trouble with her husband, the pressure is at boiling point.
