The Upside

#1 Post by Deanbutlin » Thu Jan 10, 2019 3:44 pm

A really good film covering what could of been a very depressing subject. It had sadness and humour and the 2 main characters, played by Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart worked really well together. Would definitely recommend it. 9/10

First film seen this year.
Got tickets for Colette, Instant Family & Second act.
Hoping to get tickets for any showing locally.

Thankfully Kevin Hart wasn't as annoying as he generally is but whilst this was watchable, the original is far better.
I really missed Earth, Wind and Fire too.

I agree saw the original funnily enough through FF and after 5 minutes I forgot it had subtitles- it was that good!

This was a funny film but not a laugh out aloud kinda funny which is what I was expecting from Kevin Hart. I enjoyed myself and I would give this 7/10.

Agreed, Gasman . . .the original was definitely a surprise hit despite being in French and subtitled.
This version is ok but doesn't quite have the sparkle of the first one. Main characters are good but something lacking between them.
Marks 7/10
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

I thought this one did some things worse and some things better than the French one. It included a few new scenes and missed a few ones too, I am pretty sure ...although its hard to recall the old one completely in my head. More space obviously for Kevin Hart, being a star. Was there paragliding in the last one?

Still a great film though, 4 stars.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?
