Re: The Disaster Artist
Saw this last week, in a double-bill with The Room, and a double-Franco Q&A. I was super excited, seen The Room many times, seen the extras on the disks, the spy-like behind the scenes, the compelling dubbed interviews, I've met Tommy and Greg a few times, read the book and went to a stop on the boo...

Re: The Happy End
Saw this in Norway a few months back, the only stuff I got, because of subtitles, were scenes with Toby Jones and Huppert, but context clues helped me realise the rest of it was tedious 'perfect wealthy family all are unhappy and self-destructive' stuff. It's Haneke, for sure, but almost parodying h...

Re: Girls Trip
Quite enjoyed this. Some good gags and brash humour. Dina was the star. Bit odd though, given the long length, that the formuliac fall out/make amends was left so late in the film and dealt with in a flash. 7/10 I quite liked that they did't p*y too much mind to that, most of the film was such a fu...

Re: Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
I loved this film. Luc Besson in full madness mode, visually gorgeous and with lots of fun in the adventures within the film. Dane DeHaan is miscast as a rogueish space secret agent ladies man, but Cara Delevigne is superb as his counterpart, whilst Clive Owen and Ethan Hawke really chew some scener...

Re: Baywatch
I sat through this film. It ran beyond feature length requirements, far too far beyond, and offered no plot for the entire first hour. The first hour also offered a few side characters that had funny moments. Then the Dwayne/Zac show began, and it was vulgar for no reason, boring beyond belief narra...

Saw this at the O2 superscreen on Friday, having only seen a trailer that implied it was some bland disaster/survival movie that just happened to have an astonishingly good cast. I was surprisingly blubbing by the end, watching things play out in an act three that smartly tones down any cinematic tr...

Re: We Are Your Friends
Saw it on Wednesday, laughed, enjoyed the music, the dramatic beats worked for me, thought the visual aesthetic was perfect for the setting and characters. All round great piece of work I will enjoy watching again in the future.
The film Eden should have been, quite frankly.

I was excited for this film, hoping they'd find the balance of creative ideas and fun action thriller. And then the opening credits began. Skip Woods. Producer. Writer. Hack. Skip Woods, for those not in the know, is the assemblage of human organs that takes credit for writing Sabotage, Die Hard 5, ...

Re: Trainwreck
Saw the film a few weeks back and loved it. Hysterical and surprisingly emotional at times, it was the first in 2 times a Bill Hader film made me cry (Inside Out as well) and when the credits came up and Tilda Swinton's role was revealed I just... Not an ounce of the character is like anything she's...

Re: MORTDECAI
I had a lot of fun with this one, sometimes rough but a lot of gold in there too. Many laughs. They were trying to get rid of the painting to get the capital they needed to keep their house in order, the backtaxes, but if they sold the painting as is, which was not verified by the auction house, it ...
