Re: Red Joan

I saw this in Bristol in a packed cinema a couple of days ago. The main characters depicting a little heard of event were well acted and Judi Dench was wonderful as the bewildered elderly Joan.

Re: Wild Rose

I really enjoyed this film which follows Rose's efforts to become a Country star. While the plot was somewhat predictable there were some unexpected twists when Rose does not get 'discovered' when she slips away during a theatre tour to perform on stage and when she leaves Nashville after just a few...

Re: The Children Act

Emma Thompson is superb in the role of a high court judge who has to make a number of ethical and complex decisions. Her commitment and dedication to her work brings her marriage to breaking point. Thompson brings wisdom and compassion to the role. An enjoyable and thought provoking film which I wou...

Re: Searching

I thoroughly enjoyed Searching. I was a bit sceptical before watching it as to how enjoyable it would be, but the plot was full of twists and turns and I really did not foresee the ending! As someone who is not particularly techy it was fascinating to see how David used various technology and social...

Re: Adrift

I saw this on Monday at the Cinema de Lux in Bristol. This is the heartbreaking true story of Tami Oldham and Richard Sharp who take on the task of sailing and delivering a yacht from Tahiti to San Diego. Three weeks into their trip they are hit by a catastrophic hurricane that leaves the yacht badl...

Re: Book Club

I found the film disappointing with a somewhat predictable plot considering the impressive cast.

Re: The Commuter

Liam Neeson is excellent in this type of role. However with a plot similar in many ways to that of 'Non-Stop' I would have to say that I found Non-Stop more engrossing, The train crash was very well done but it seemed as though the director thought it would be a good idea to have a spectacular crash...

Re: The Disaster Artist

An amazing performance by James Franco. I had not heard of the cult phenomenon that is The Room prior to seeing this film. I wish I had seen the original before seeing The Disaster Artist. However, judging by the end credits the film remained painstakingly true to Tommy Wiseau's film. I wasn't sure ...
