Lost city of Z

Just saw this at the Glasgow film festival. A long film at 2 hours and 20 minutes. Very slow

Re: Nerve

Have to agree with the ending. Tied things up a bit too neatly. A couple of large plot holes as well. Having said that, I still really enjoyed it

Re: Swallows and Amazons

The name change was a very minor point. The film still had the look and feel of an old style adventure for children. It was gently paced and actually quite absorbing.

Re: Love & Friendship

I saw this as the surprise film at this year's Glasgow film festival. There was an audible groan from some sections of the audience when the title came up. It turned out to be a really enjoyable, humorous film.

Re: Me Before You

Enjoyable if a little predictable. The main performances were great.

Re: Suffragette

Enjoy isn't really the appropriate word to use for the film. It was a compelling film and the performances especially Carey Mulligan were excellent

Steamboat Bill Jr

A silent classic that's been restored and reissued in cinemas. A slow burner from Buster Keaton. There are some lovely touches in the opening scenes and it's only in the final fifteen minutes that you see the fantastic physicality of the man. Well worth a watch.

Re: Vacation

Wasn't expecting much from the movie to be honest. Laughed from the titles right though to the end. The way some jokes were set up and put to the side only to be finished later was clever. Rude and crude and very funny

Re: Marshland

One of my favourite films this year. The cinematography was stunning. The story and the acting was great. Really tense.
