Re: Damascus Cover

I agree, JRM is a decent enough actor so it's hard to understand how he could miss the mark so badly here.

Re: Victoria and Abdul

Pretty disappointed really. Just feels like a missed opportunity for a much better film. It made me chuckle and Judi Dench is wonderful but it's very flimsy and a bit daft

Re: Churchill

Really liked Cox and Richardson but felt that the film would have benefited from more time exploring their relationships instead of getting wound up with the contemporary events themselves. The final third was the strongest because it was the only time that Churchill was explored as a human character.

Re: Whisky Galore

Maybe it's because I went in with very low expectations but I really enjoyed it. The visual quality of the setting was beautiful, the score was lovely and I just found myself smiling. Nothing all that original but genuinely heart warming and funny

Re: Their Finest

It's a crowd pleaser I suppose, I found it a bit of a mixed bag. Never quite funny enough and always a bit too predictable. Bill Nighy does what Bill Nighy does and he does it well so I did enjoy his performance
