Re: Capernaum

Just to back up what the others have said. Didn't expect much before going to see the film, but it I was engaged from start to finish. Difficult subject matter, but sensitively handled and some incredible performances by the child actors. Highly recommended.

Limehouse Golem

A series of murders has shaken a Victorian community to the point where people believe that only a legendary creature from dark times - the mythical so-called Golem - must be responsible. Enjoyable murder mystery set in Victorian times. Bill Nighy particularly good as the inspector attempting to sol...

Re: The Big Sick

Good film. Had some laugh out loud moments and some good performances (I didn't recognise Ray Romano either!). Ended up slightly cliched even though the premise hinted at originality with it being based on a real story. It was unnecessary long in places, and at times it felt like some scenes from a ...

Re: Baby Driver

Re: Gifted

Similar sentiments to the other reviews. Overall I have to say I did enjoy it, and it was quick enough and short enough to retain my interest throughout. It was predictable, but was always going to be. Some of the dialogue was clever, and the maths angle was a nice diversion. Certainly more of a laz...

Re: Lady Macbeth

Pleasantly surprised by this film. It was slow to start and at times seemed to wander, but it provided quite an innovative approach to a well trodden genre. Some scenes were quite unpleasant, but were still watchable. Due to the linear narrative, it was easy to follow and get hooked into the differe...

Re: Going in Style

Saw it this morning. Despite my initial reservations, I was pretty impressed by the film. While it is quite formulaic and predictable, it has a charm and humour that make it enjoyable. Coupled with its short running time the time flew by. It wasn't incredible, but you could predict this before going.
