Re: Breathe

I truly enjoyed this touching story of love, loyalty and endurance. Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy do a wonderful job of depicting the young couple who persevere against all odds to give Robin the chance to lead as 'normal' a life as possible despite his disability.

Re: Gifted

Like many of the other reviewers I found the plot predictable but generally enjoyed the film. The young actress who played Mary was enchanting. Chris Evans, Lindsay Duncan and Octavia Spencer also put in sterling performances, Gifted won't win any awards but nonetheless it was a pleasant watch. 6/10

Re: Hacksaw Ridge

Brilliant! A wonderful, but little known, tale of heroism and valour that truly deserved to be told. Mel Gibson, making his directorial comeback, does justice to this incredible story and Andrew Garfield does a great job at portraying the virtuous Desmond Doss. I would not hesitate to recommend this...

Re: Lion

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Sunny Pawar is wistfully innocent and expressive as the young Saroo. He is destined for great things! Dev Pate,l as the adult Saroo, who painstakingly searches on Google Earth to find the little village where he was born, is wonderful as always. I loved the update and...

Re: I, Daniel Blake

Filmed in the style of a docu-drama I, Daniel Blake shows how the benefits system reduces ordinary people, who have the misfortune to be unemployed, to despair. One can feel Daniel's frustration with the system. He is made to jump through hoops just to register for benefits. An honest, dignified man...

Re: Deepwater Horizon

Saw this at the Vue at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol tonight. I didn't fully understand all the technicalities of what caused the disaster but suffice to say that BP Execs putting pressure on to take shortcuts as time was money played a significant part in what ensued- no surprises there! The special e...

I saw this at the Cinema de Lux in Bristol. I have to agree with cliveas and ejwrank. Though the acting was reasonable the simplistic plot and lack of character development made this a very boring watch for me.

Re: 45 years

I saw this in Bristol a few days ago. I found this to be a beautifully acted gentle film with turbulent underlying emotions. Rampling does not need words to portray her feelings of hurt and betrayal, her eyes say it all. The flat wintry Norfolk landscape was the perfect setting for this tale of love...
