Re: Breaking News

Shocking news about the Apollo Theatre. I sat in that balcony to see that same play earlier this year and have been there several times over the years. I vaguely remember thinking the ceiling was quite beautiful - you would never expect a collapse like that to happen but those buildings are old. Awf...

Re: Oldboy

I also enjoyed this, although immediately put my plans to watch the remake on hold, I feel like its something I need to work up to. Is it that much different? The general story is basically the same but because quite a few minor changes that have been made I think there's definitely value in going ...

Re: The Hobbit : The Desolation of Smaug

I think I preferred the first film. It wasn't awful but I wasn't taken by it and found myself looking at my watch several times. I like 3d but found it distractingly dark, especially at the beginning. Nice to see Luke Evans as Bard (I'll watch anything he is in) so I am looking forward to the next i...

Re: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

I really liked this, so I guess I'm on the more positive side but I can see why people found it a bit boring as it dawdled along in places - however I can forgive all that because I found it truly heart warming. I felt for Walter Mitty and was cheering him all the way. [spoiler]I wondered how he had...

Re: Empire Leicester Square

Thanks for posting the pics Jayman, looks quite nice. And yes, the people are a bit random! Interesting comparison to other screens Celini - wonder where Odeon Greenwich IMAX sits on that scale? I have been to that IMAX a number of times but I have to admit it doesn't compare to the BFI IMAX experie...

Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?

I agree rawsalsa, The Take is a great adaption. I saw it a few years ago when it was first shown on TV and was gripped. Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley did an excellent job. If you liked The Take, I think you'd also like The Runaway - I thought that was very well done too. I'm not sure what adaptation...

Re: Empire Leicester Square

Yes, great memories Mr Glass, it is a shame they didn't make the remodelling date public or at least widely report on their plans to give people notice. It would have given people a chance to visit the screen one last time before the changes.

Re: Empire Leicester Square

What a shame, Empire Screen 1 was magnificent. I may be remembering it through rose-tinted glasses and I haven't been there for over a year, but I can't say that any sound problems it may have had bothered me. I always enjoyed the viewing experience there, definitely one of the top 3 screens in Lond...
