Re: Moana
Beautiful to look at - songs OK, if not quite as memorable as Frozen.

Re: Sully
An old-fashioned movie, in the best possible sense, from Clint.
The interweaving of the different timelines is very well-handled and excellent performances all round - especially Aaron Eckhart's 'tache :-)

Re: Paterson
What a fantastic little film. This is exactly the kind of american "indie" film that it is so hard to find showing at the multiplex centres these days. So glad that Odeon actually screened this one. Nothing much happens and yet there is a depth and a richness to it, that makes me want to see it agai...

Re: Bad Santa 2
Wouldn't have gone anywhere near this if not for the Limitless card, but had a couple of hours to kill before the evening's only showing of Your Name. Hadn't seen the original. What a very strange film this is. It appears to be aiming for the tone of WC Fields as a "comedy" with a very dark, twisted...

Re: The Edge of Seventeen
Knew nothing about this film at all - had never even heard of it.
Loved it, loved it, loved it.
It takes the tired old scenario of the wise-cracking outsider teen and makes it funny, sad, truthful and inspiring.
Napoleon Dynamite meets Juno.

Need to see this again - suspect we'll spot lots of extra clues missed first time round.

Re: The Accountant
Sometimes going in with low expectations to see a big dumb action movie is the best way to end up with a surprisingly enjoyable two hours of silly fun. It turned out that at the end of a long day, this was just what we needed. The action scenes are well put together. The whole cinema laughed more of...

Re: Arrival
Donnie Darko Encounters of an Interstellar Kind So many good things about this film. It's has an intelligence, rather than just crash bang. In feel and style, although totally different as a movie, it is often quite reminiscent of Sicario. Although notionally a science fiction epic, it is as much ab...
