Re: Wakolda
Great performances, and the story built well to produce a credible thriller. Deeply troubling content though, and also in some of the comments at the end of the film about the photographer . Bit of a morality tale too, in terms of thinking about being 'better' than you are. Having seen this, I am co...

Have to say that this was not one I would have chosen, but it looks ideal for you. :-)
Also thought maybe for allsinging's son - for another of your post-movie discussions! :-)

MOOCs - Massive Open Online Courses... Free education!
Well, I did think about posting about some of these earlier, but thought everyone would know about these. It seems that is not the case. MOOCs are prepared mainly by academic institutions. Some are based around material that has been available e.g. on Youtube (like Michael Sandel's course on Justice...

Re: The 100-Year-Old Man who Climbed out of the Window
Saw this at the new Curzon in Ripon - a first for me. Very small cinema, but comfortable - and the staff were trying very hard to make it a good cinema experience. I thoroughly enjoyed this film - I'd heard good things of the book, but had not read it so was not quite sure of what to expect. It did ...

Re: Boyhood
Saw this a few weeks ago when I was in Germany. Cinema was very busy, especially for such a long film, and even more so as it was in English. However, it did not feel like a "long" film. The (mainly) German audience - as usual - behaved far better than the average UK audience - very little talking, ...

Re: Fruitvale Station
Pa*d to see this, and it was well worth the money. Like others, I did not follow all the dialogue. But that is the only negative in an otherwise exceptional film. How tragic for all. I read the following on this: http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2013/07/12/fruitvale_station_true_story_fact_and_fi...

Re: Next Goal Wins
I recommended this to my local indie cinema, and they put it on for 1 night only.... and a bit after it had been on elsewhere. Nearly did not make it (rushed over from seeing Belle at another cinema), but so-o-o glad I did. It is charming, funny and heart-warming. It is great entertainment. I'd give...

Re: Edge of Tomorrow
Dreadful mess. Disappointed & irritated in roughly equal measure. 3/10 off to watch Groundhog Day on dvd to restore my faith in movies. I had no expectations, but thought this was dire - I'd agree with feeling 'irritated'. Reliving the same weak scenes time and again did not work for me - cliche af...

Re: Tracks
Only just managed to find this on locally- I am so glad I got to see this in the cinema. Watching on a DVD would just not have the same impact. I was - almost - totally absorbed by this film - it was brilliantly acted, with stunning scenery, and occasionally humour and sadness. The time flew by, and...
