I've been following the latest series of The Blacklist and i've been having weird thoughts about what's going on.
Spoiler tags for those who haven't seen it yet.
It would certainly explain Red's keen interest in Elizabeth.

Spoiler
Show
Red is an imposter.
Someone else had plastic surgery by a genius surgeon and took on Red's persona.
Elizabeth's mother, the Russian spy, is missing and has been practically as long as the new Red appeared on the scene.
So, Is Red Elizabeth's MOTHER???

Chernobyl, freakishly good tv, you'll be temped to read around it too. If you do read up on it, I would suggest skirting its effects on Belarus which are way more distressing than the events in Chernobyl, and were never addressed by Russia at all (Russia in fact intentionally aggravated the Belarus "fallout").
