Re: TV Series: Discuss, Review, Anticipate, and Wotnot
Anyone watched The Handmaid's Tale? We've finished that now and it was a great show, Elisabeth Moss is particuarly good.
Pleased GOT is back now, aside from 'that' woeful cameo, it was a strong start, especially Arya and the Freys.
For some light relief we've also been steadily working away at Parks and Recreation, which had missed the first time round, and several seasons in now. Found Leslie a bit of a nightmare in the first season but totally warmed to her now and the bunch of mis-fits she works with. Ron Swanson is a continued highlight. Who would have thought how far Chris Pratt could go from the oaf like Andy..

Re: TV Series: Discuss, Review, Anticipate, and Wotnot
Yes I have been watching it. I have missed a few episodes but have recorded them so looking forward to catching them up. I remember seeing the film of the same name with Faye Dunaway, Natasha Richardson and the lovely Aidan Quinn back in the 90s, It ws really spooky back then and this dramatisation is too. It will be interesting to see if they are the same.
Also catching up on Fearless which is great. Helen McCrory is brilliant as usual. Any more recommendations for good dramas?

Handmaids tale is stonking. But overwhelmingly grim. The only decent scifi on tv at present. I cant believe I've never read the book.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

Re: TV Series: Discuss, Review, Anticipate, and Wotnot
I've never seen the film or read the book, but my OH has read the book and stirred the initial interest when the show was advertised. Definitely pretty grim and spooky but really watchable. Imagine it must be pretty rushed in a film if it covers all the events in the show.
If you like to keep it spooky then the first season of Outcast was really good. Adapted from a Robert Kirkman comic like Walking Dead. I ended up watching that myself as it was a bit too jumpy for my wife Season 2 is out now so need to get started on that.
Designated Survivor seems to be getting good feedback so fancy checking that out and meaning to start American Gods at some point too.
For other dramas, I'd recommend The Affair and there is 3 seasons of that to binge on.Florence1 wrote:Any more recommendations for good dramas?

Designated Survivor is good. I've seen it all and it doesn't disappoint. It keeps you guesing on character loyalties and throws a few curveballs practically in every episode. Anything else I might say is likely to be a spoiler so my lips (fingers) are now sealed.
American Gods is weird but not twin peaks weird. You can follow it and it makes better sense as it goes on. It even has a walking corpse with an attitude, but not until a few episodes in. Lips shut again.

Both sound good then so I'll have to get started soon! Had heard similar about American Gods in that people were quite baffled by it all so wanted to build up a run to pique interest.steve9872 wrote:Designated Survivor is good.
