Drifting Dragons (Grimeborn Festival, Arcola Theatre)
30 July, 3.30pm and 6pm

Childhood best friends Sadie and Jason are drifting apart as they edge towards their late twenties, but sudden events bring them back in touch. Will their friendship suffer a final, fatal rupture, or will it endure stronger than ever? Drifting Dragons is a new opera about everyday life performed in everyday locations. Inspired by true stories from real Londoners, it puts modern friendship under the microscope, examining the pressures that push some relationships to breaking point, and the joys that sustain others despite the odds.

Come to Dalston Square, watch the performance pop up and then follow the story. Drifting Dragons premieres at Grimeborn with two, free, unticketed performances. Please note that this is a site-specific performance. It will take place in Dalston Square. No ticket required – just turn up. Running time: 50 minutes approximately .

Bluebeard’s Castle (Grimeborn Festival, Arcola Theatre)
23 July, 8pm

Béla Bartók’s entrancing masterpiece comes to life with large-scale puppets made from recycled materials, designed by Oliver James Hymans and operated by a cast of community performers drawn from across East London. Music, dance, movement and puppetry intertwine as Judith and Bluebeard venture deeper into the castle. Bluebeard’s Castle features recorded music, performed in English.

This performance will take place in Gillett Square, in Dalston. Running time: 60 minutes approximately (including interval).

Shadowlands – Aylesbury Waterside Theatre

The multiple award winning drama and stunning timeless tale of Shadowlands comes to the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre. We are thrilled to have a few tickets for both the evenings and matinee performances.
Monday 18th , Tuesday 19th, Wednesday 20th, Thursday 21st , Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd July all at 7.30pm and matinee performances on Thursday 21st at 2.30pm and Saturday 23rd at 2.30pm.

This powerful drama raises questions about religion, humanity, society through a gripping story of love, belief and pain. Shadowlands is the stunning drama written by William Nicholson that poses classic questions about religion, pain and love, through childhood innocence and the wonder of late-flowering love. Starring Stephen Boxer (Humans, The Iron Lady, Doctors) as C.S. Lewis, Amanda Ryan (The Forsyte Saga) and Dennis Lill (Only Fools and Horses and The Royal) this West End and Broadway hit is the love story of C.S. Lewis - Oxford don and author of The Chronicles of Narnia and The Screwtape Letters - and American poet Joy Davidman. Lewis is comfortable in his life at Oxford University, smug in his convictions about God and His plan for the world until Joy and her young son enter his life and the bewildered theoretician of love in the abstract finally confronts its direct presence.

Hendrick’s Gin Ministry of Marginally Superior Transport

http://www.showfilmfirst.com/hendricks/

All ABOARD THE EXTRAORDINARY HENDRICK’S GIN BUS
– Hendrick’s Ministry of Marginally Superior Transport launches an unusual transport service to help Londoners’ escape their travel gloom –

Inscribe Thursday 21st July in your diary – the date Hendrick’s Gin will unveil the answer to Londoners’ travel woes in the form of a peculiar double-decker bus cunningly disguised as a giant cucumber.

And, of course bartenders will be on the bus to pour the perfect Hendrick’s Gin & Tonic with a slice of cucumber, serve cocktails and offer cucumber macaroons.

Hendrick’s Extraordinary Roving Bus for Exceptionally Refined Travel (H.E.R.B.E.R.T.) will be provided by Hendrick’s Ministry of Marginally Superior Transport; a bureau working endlessly to help remedy the ills associated with terrible etiquette across London’s transport system.

The bus will provide much needed respite to Londoners between 21st and 29th July (excluding Mondays), between the hours of 16.00 and 21.00*. Tickets for the curiously unconventional service are priced at £2.50 and passengers can board at Hendrick’s stops on Victoria Street, Westminster (SW1H 0ET), Southbank (SE1 8XT), Theobalds Road, Holborn (WC1X 8SP) or Euston Road, Kings Cross (NW1 2SX).

Passengers can keep up to date with the Ministry’s quest for slightly better transport via the Hendrick’s UK Facebook and Twitter. Passengers are invited to share their travel woes (or triumphs) with a tweet to @HendricksGinUK using #HendricksMinistry. The best (or in some cases the worst) will receive a delightfully different Hendrick’s gift or personalised message from the Ministry.

Tickets, which include an admin and digital delivery fee, are available on these dates (click on a date to p*rchase):

Thursday 21st July

Friday 22nd July

Saturday 23rd July

Sunday 24th July

Tuesday 26thJuly

Wednesday 27th July

Thursday 28th July
