Gareth Richards' brand of observational comedy has made him a hotly tipped act on the circuit. In 2008 he was nominated for the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year Award, and later won a place as part of the Comedy Reserve, the Edinburgh Festival showcase run by the Pleasance. Previously he was a finalist in the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year 2007 competition, and a runner-up in both the final of You Must Be Joking (Newbury Comedy Festival), and the Amused Moose Laugh-Off, held at the Edinburgh Festival. He can be heard every Saturday morning from 8am on Frank Skinner's Absolute Radio Show.

Tom Deacon returned to Edinburgh Fringe in 2009 with his first solo show Indecisive. As part of Switch (the BBC's teen offering delivering content across multiple platforms), Tom presents The 5:19 Show online every weekday, and as well as hosting Switch's strand of Saturday afternoon shows on BBC Two, he also recently appeared in BBC Two's Winging It. Tom was invited to attend the first stage of NBC's Last Comic Standing in Miami and is set to appear in the next series of Comedy Central's hit stand up show Edinburgh and Beyond. Last year Tom starred in the Fringe's longest running group comedy show, The Comedy Zone, which previously launched the careers of Dave Gorman, Harry Hill, Stewart Lee, Al Murray and Ross Noble.

Showstoppers - Thursday at 9.30pm‏ - Leics Square Theatre

#15 Post by anakin » Tue Dec 15, 2009 2:49 pm

We have a few complimentary tickets available for Thursday 17th December to see SHOWSTOPPERS at the Leicester Square Theatre, at 9.30PM
Seefilmfirst vouchers need to be redeemed at the Box Office at 9pm on the night.

SHOWSTOPPERS

A brand new musical created nightly: this sell-out, award-winning show is back for more! Our writer has just one hour to create a hit musical. Stuck for inspiration, he asks for audience suggestions and the all-singing, all-dancing cast then create a musical from scratch based around those ideas.

Utterly unpredictable, frequently side-splittingly funny, packed with drama and featuring dazzling dance routines and catchy melodies, Showstopper! leaves delighted audiences singing all the way home.

Having now seen Showstopper! twice, I can testify that not only is each performance achingly funny, it's a genuinely new full-length musical every time. Top-class in creativity in action. Worth seeing again and again. ***** Time Out

This show crammed in everything, from political satire to parodies. See Showstopper! See it again and again and again. ***** British Theatre Guide

MORE INFORMATION:

Kings Place Christmas Concert:

New London Singers with conductor Ivor Setterfield present a programme of carols for choir, organ and audience. Tracing the story of the Nativity through a sequence of well-known favourites, classic choral works and more modern contributions to the Christmas musical canon. The programme which includes works by Bruckner, Berlioz, Tavener and Warlock will be a rich and exciting choral celebration.

New London Singers is one of London's most dynamic chamber choirs, regularly performing at major London venues, and with a growing discography. The choir is committed to performing a wide range of music of differing styles and periods: sacred and secular, renaissance to twenty-first century, popular chamber pieces and exciting new discoveries. The choir regularly commissions works from some of the country's leading composers.

Ivor Setterfield is founder and musical director of the Trafalgar Sinfonia (formerly the New London Soloists Orchestra), an orchestra comprising some of London's most talented young musicians. Ivor has conducted many orchestras including Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the City of London Sinfonia, the London Mozart Players and the Hanover Band and regularly performs at major London venues including the Royal Albert Hall, the South Bank, the Barbican and St Martin-in-the-Fields. He has also conducted at venues across Europe, most extensively throughout Italy and France. Ivor is also Musical Director of Barts Choir, one of the City of London's largest cultural organisations and has featured in several documentary programmes for Channel Five and for the BBC, most recently Classic Goldie (2009).
