Any VHS collectors on FMUK?

#1 Post by elixir01 » Tue Jun 05, 2018 9:36 am

Hi all, just wondering if there are any VHS enthusiasts in the forum? More importantly, if there are is anyone aware of anywhere in London that is still selling tapes (second hand shops, or books/record stores)?

Even charity shops refuse to accept them anymore.

Absolutely, but occasionally you stumble upon places which still have them lurking out the back....!

My son (who doesn't live with us anymore) still has a load of Dr. Who and manga in his bedroom. One day I must clear them out.lol

I'm not collecting them but I still have some. Unfortunately my VHS player seems to have given up the ghost!

I've got hundreds of VHS tapes which I never look at even though I do still have a DVD/VHS combi player.
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

Films already booked for:

Hope to get tickets for: Every film if they come to my preferred cinemas

I have most of the early Bond, Startrek NG, a few sci fi films and others lurking around. The VHS players are still working (touching a BIG piece of wood when I say that!) My GS -8yrs, is fascinated by them. I am a horder, so will keep until they become collector items/well hidden from OH's tidying up bouts/recycled as something else.....

Remember - it seemed like only yesterday that only a three year old could work a VCR - particularly programming it to record something acurately. I challenge any child to do that now! A lost art. Even DVD has been superseded by streaming. Sad.

Cineworld Unlimited is cheating! ;-)

What's worse is when they haven't got a clue what you are talking about!

"Record player" to them is like "gramophone" was to us. Lol
