Coronavirus

#1 Post by Beate » Thu Mar 12, 2020 10:57 am

Just received this email from Picturehouses:

"What we're doing to help keep customers and staff safe in our cinemas
While we are all dealing with the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to take this opportunity to update you and give you some practical facts on what we're doing as a company to help keep people safe and minimise the spread of COVID-19 in our cinemas.

The safety and well-being of our customers, our members and our staff is our utmost priority at Picturehouse, and we're continuing to follow official guidance from the UK Government and Public Health England carefully.

To help combat the spread of COVID-19, we've already started putting precautionary measures in place, including:

- Fully training staff on prevention steps
- Ensuring all staff wash their hands more frequently and thoroughly
- Cleaning high contact points in cinemas more frequently
- Ensuring sanitising hand soap is provided in our toilets
- Working closely with local health authorities

For several weeks now, we have also asked any members of staff who have visited areas affected by COVID-19 to seek medical advice and remain off work until their GP gives them the all clear.

Our cinemas are open and are operating as normal. We will continue to keep in touch with you and follow official guidance from the UK Government and Public Health England carefully.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Best wishes,

The Picturehouse team"

Personally I think I'll avoid cinemas for the time being. If the government isn't doing anything to keep us safe, we might have to do it ourselves.

I'm not surprised to read the post by Picturehouse Cinemas but definitely hope cinemas keep open 🤞 If you can go during the day, there's not too many folk in cinemas and you can usually sit a fair distance from others.
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

Films already booked for:

Hope to get tickets for: Every film if they come to my preferred cinemas

I don't know. I still have my Brexit stockpile, and I will try to go out as little as possible for the next week's. I have already changed some appointments into phone appointments. With my underlying health conditions I have to look after myself, and I'm not prepared to sacrifice myself on the altar of "herd immunity".

Some vulnerable people are likely to have to stay indoors for a lot longer than 2 weeks.

Let's never forget The Great Toilet Paper Famine of 2020 was caused by Arseholes!
