Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?
what happened to this thread?!
Watched my own little Red Carpet (edit- I mean Red Curtain lol) Quadrilogy.
Streetdance - vibrant fun with some cool moves but an average movie -yet much better than the sequel, plus N Burley yum lol. 8/10
Strictly Ballroom -marvellous movie! This is how dance movies should be made. I particularly liked the way older actos were pivotal to the movie, it wasnt just about youths (who often ruin the film because they often cant yet act really outstandingly). 11/10
Chicago! - OK I really liked the way this started. But somehow it just petered out. I'd like to know why they filmed so much of this 'on stage' when they had the whole breadth of advantages and techniques that celluloid offers. So much more could have been done with the songs rather than simply film them performed in a theatre. And the speedy delivery is no longer something to be admired on tv when you know they can simply cut and reshoot and put bits together - something that requires much less talent than the actual West End performers showed. So, started strong but petered out. All round pretty good acting though, even the wooden Richard Gere was ok lol. 7/10 an hour in, but have to see it again because I fell asleep during it!
Fame 2009 - ugh, this was like a tv movie. Drab, depressing, very lacking in story, talent. 5/10

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2012" club. I saw 32, which is rather delightful.. I beat Mr. Glass on free films but he narrowly inched me out on total films seen.
Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2011" club. I saw 20, interestingly enough. My more realistic target was to see more free films than TheyCallMeMrGlass. I lost.

Keeping Mum.
I asked a colleague a list of good British films and I started my marathon with this one. Funny and entertaining!
