Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I have had a quick look but cannot seem to see one, so I will ask the question - is there or should there be a free theatre/concert ticket discussion thread?
I went to see a couple of things last week with other members of FMUK. We had a discussion about who was going to one of the performances as part of the thanks thread, but I cannot see that any of us subsequently posted comments about what we had seen. It is often easier to post one or two sentences on an ongoing thread than starting a new thread to say the same thing.
Bevvy and I went to see Third Person: Bonnie & Clyde redux and I notice that Bevvy then posted to say that more tickets were available. If we had commented about our experiences, it may have helped others make informed choices about whether or not to apply for tickets to go later in the week.
I would be interested in hearing people's views on the option of having a dedicated free theatre/concert ticket discussion thread.

EWdit: Oops sorry, I need to learn to read. You meant a theatre discussion thread.....Duh. I don't think we have one currently unless you count the thread about gigs etc. But perhaps we might have a dedicated theatre/performance thread in the future I'm sure AYBG/Beate will magic one up!

I think that it would be good for smaller events, but that bigger events like the Bon Jovi concerts would probably still need their own.

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
There is a concert/gigs thread on here that I created, if that helps:5rannoch wrote:I think that it would be good for smaller events, but that bigger events like the Bon Jovi concerts would probably still need their own.

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I did notice that one, but I thought that was for music events rather than plays, comedy shows etc. However, as Beate suggests we could continue to use this one, but the title may need to be changed as the concert/gigs one is already there.jpeg wrote:There is a concert/gigs thread on here that I created, if that helps:5rannoch wrote:I think that it would be good for smaller events, but that bigger events like the Bon Jovi concerts would probably still need their own.

I guess like the concert/gigs thread it need not necessarily be restricted to only those events that people see as a result of receiving free tickets but others that they may have also seen and would like to recommend or warn others not to waste their time and money?

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
So, did you go to this Bonnie & Clyde Redux and what did you think? It look a bit too experimental for me.
Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I think that this review on another site, seems to sum it up really well.
"As light entertainment this was quite entertaining. It is titled redux and it is rather a simplified interpretation of the lives of these two people. I found it amusing and thought provoking, not least because of the present media debate over the glorification of the actions of Raoul Moat. It is frightening to think that he is being thought of by sections of society in the way that Bonnie & Clyde were at the time of their activities and since. It makes one think! The two performers were good. There was a real chemistry between them which helped to make the show work well. They kept the audiences' attention. However the play lacked real substance and sensibly did not go beyond the 60 minutes billed."
It consisted of 15 scenes, some of them better than others, using a variety of lo-fi media including video, drawings and overhead projection. I am still trying to work out what 'murder by numbers was all about' - they tried to explain Bonny and Clyde's life through a series of numbers and then mathematical calculations!!??
Overall it was a pleasant way to spend an hour and the restaurant next door does lovely pizzas. The play is on until 24 July, so it is possible that more tickets will become available.

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I always wanted to know what sort of seats you get at the theatre/concerts and whether you get a good view or not. I've never bothered grabbing these tickets when they are available as either they are too short notice for me to find a plus one or I have something planned.
