Thanks, Celini! I had a look at Avast as scootermcc also suggested it. When I looked at it, there seemed to be 3 levels, 2 which were to be pa*d for. The table they showed re contents of the different levels said the basic(free) would not cover banking, online shopping, etc. I was confused that the free one seemed to cover so little. Do you just have the basic free Avast?

I have had the free basic avast for years with no problems, never felt the need to upgrade and p*y. I also had the added security for banking from Trusteer Rapport, I think you can add the security to other sites as well. A lot of banks offer this themselves for free to customers, I am sure they wouldnt offer if it wasnt good. http://www.trusteer.com/ProtectYourMoney I just downloaded it again from FirstDirect myself as new laptop and your post reminded me to get it.

If you've got Barclays account, you can get a year subscription of Kaspersky for FREE. Licence is for 3 computers. Barclays is given it for years. Of course when you license expire - you can renew it again.... search G***le for more info HOW-TO

@McG: yes the free version is excellent; no need to p*y for the upgrade ;)

Although as a general rule do not use sensitive sites (online banking or anywhere you would need to enter your personal details/bank details) when you are using unprotected free wifi/hotspots.

Sound advice Celini. I use Avast too, AVG is also good and free.

I'm sure this has already been discussed, but after a search through this thread I've not been able to find an answer - so here goes. I'm wanting to set up a blog so I can get my film reviews together and up online (mostly just for myself), but I'm having trouble deciding which host/site to go for. I've done some digging and 1and1 http://website.1and1.co.uk/website-templates have caught my eye (link there is anyone wants to see) as it seems as though they do all the fiddly bits for you. I'm not particularly techy, so simplicity is what I'm looking for. But I wanted to hear if anyone else had used them and could recommend, or if there's something else I should consider first?

I use Wordpress, which is really popular. I find it easy to use and the layouts are very nice. If you need any help feel free to ask, I'm sure a few other people also use Wordpress on here.

I use AVG free, and find that really good too.
http://free.avg.com/us-en/homepage

Don't forget to use ccleaner to clear the muck from your computer.
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

I use SuperAntiSpyware, for a weekly check too.

Always download the Free Versions not the Free Trials. Sometimes you have to hunt around for the main Sites, as they are not always the first to show up on any Internet Searches.

Good luck
