Because they're for Beate and she wants to watch them on DVD! I don't think she's going to want to download from rapidshare/megaupload.

The best programs for ripping a dvd is dvddecrypter, for converting files is autogk and for burning nero burning rom

I havent used these for a while (in my student heydays I amassed a collection of more films and tv series than I would actually have time to watch in my lifetime) so am not sure if autogk can do AVIs to VCD as I have a dvd player that plays absolutely anything so don't need to do this but If you need help the doom9 forums are your friend

TBH if your having trouble why not just put them on two dvds its only an extra 30p!

Thanks pg, will look into those. Using lots of discs isn't the issue... it's that I only have two left! So want to try and fit as many onto it as possible.

Will look at that forum you mentioned. Thanks! x

Grrrrr my sister installed the dread Antivirus Pro virus onto my baby laptop today!!!

I literally wanted to strangle her!

Took me ages to remove the damn thing, used some malware thing and it seemed to have gone through the registry and removed the appropriate files but I was reading around and someone said that the software will never fully remove it and I need to do it manually on my own! I don't feel comfortable modifying the registry.... Anyone have any experience on this??

There may be a utility on the AV website that will do the job, however as I don't know which AV software you're talking about, I cannot say for sure that it exists, however I have heard of such utilities existing.

Well my laptop uses NOD 32 Antivirus/spyware as my anti virus checker and it has blocked alot of attacks related to this nasty virus (and has served me well over the last year or so) yet I'm not sure how my sister managed to install the "Antivirus Pro" virus onto my laptop as it should have blocked the attack.

I had it removed with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware which did remove alot of the affected registry entries but I'm just worried...were there any left behind that might start lurking over the next few days!

It would probably be a good idea to boot in safe mode (F8 at startup, if a windows logo appears you're too late, you need a menu) and run nod32 with a deep scan.

As Steve says run it in Safe mode by pressing F8 before windows starting message appears but after the BIOS info is displayed. I suggest you also download Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware which is currently the most thorough anti-malware scanner around. Its free to use just for scanning. Once you have done a complete scan, you must run the scanner AGAIN until the number of threats shown is zero. Sometimes it takes 2 passes to completely rid of the buggers.

The best free anti virus software is AVG. It is worth p*ying for Malwarebyte software which costs a one off £20 for a lifetime of updates. It finds more malware than other big guns like Norton or Mcaffee finds.

The best free registry cleaner in my view is CCleaner, which is a freeware program. Its a great all round pc cleaner and optimizer.
