London 2012 Olympics

Apologies if this thread already exists, but I can't see it if it is.

While the Olympics are a fair way off, I get a newsletter about the Olympics which tells me "The City of Coventry Stadium, home of Coventry City FC, has been selected as the new Midlands venue to host Olympic Football matches in 2012."

Now, I'm not particularly fussed and while I'm sure Cov is a lovely place and it has it's benefits, I'm at a loss as to why we would not use Wembley? Does anyone know? Is Coventry Stadium a sight I ought to see?

there are six different stadiums the football will be played for 2012 Olympics. Wembely is one of them along with Millennium stadium, old trafford, St James Park and Hampton Park. The newsletter will be informing people that The City of Coventry Stadium is the new venue for the midlands it was going to be Villa Park, but they pulled out for some reason?

With only 2 years to go to the actual games the process to recruit 70.000 volunteer Games Makers has now started. On top of that the London Ambassadors programme is also recruiting another 8000 volunteers to work as London Ambassadors across London during the Games.

We can't wait for the Olympics so send all your free tickets to any events Beate over to us please! As we live in Hackney, one of the Olympic boroughs, there was at one time talk about some special deals, but they have gone suspiciously quiet on that now. Just hope all the hotshots don't take all the good tickets.

So will I - I hope the holiday companies don't put their prices up, most of my family and neighbours feel the same way. My poor daughter lives extremely close to the olympic site within the area where traffic will be excluded.
If I can't afford anything else I will go and live in a tent in the middle of nowhere rather than endure the disruption that this pointless waste of money will cause.

That's the spirit! There are as many people for it as against it! Certainly very disruptive for people living so close. Surely there is some happy medium, but the LDA would probably not take that into account. On the Olympic 2012 tour recently, we passed a listed building and the oldest barber shop, and the owner refuses to budge! Lol
