I am also not getting alerts anymore - stopped a couple of days ago - unsubscribed and resubscribed etc but not working - any admin got any ideas???

We might have temporarily exceeded our notification email quota when someone posted the same thing on Free Fims SIX TIMES the other day!

I am still not getting email alerts for free films, and have not been doing so for some weeks.

Have tried unsubscribing and resubscribing but to no avail. Anyone else still struggling?

Anyone got any bright ideas as to how to restore?

Hi

Does anyone know why I am not receiving the email alerts for free films? I have subscribed to the thread. They stopped working on my old account, so I made a new account, and they don't work on there either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you gone to Free Films and clicked on "mark topics read"? Sometimes that helps.

It is clearly a forum issue and not a member issue. I'm really cross no-one on the admin side seems bothered about looking into it more closely!

Its a mail server issue. The forum is sending the emails out, but the mail server that sends the emails has built in limits. The situation is made worse when chat is posted in FF and the daily allowance is used up.
Even when the server does send you an email, it can be stopped by any of the intervening servers. I've had alerts turn up several months after they were sent - all at once. I had to look at the date stamps to understand what was going on. Sometimes a server hangs and nobody notices for months. It takes someone to trace where mail gets lost before it gets fixed. However such fixes can be temporary meaning the server will hang again.

The internet isn't as reliable as you thought.

Don't be cross at me, I'm not the super admin here with server knowledge. I am sure AYBG is aware. We're only a small site compared to some out there, and I don't know how big the server is. I didn't set it up.
