July and August 2012 is going to be a very exciting time for London, as well as the rest of the UK. How to book

There are 100,000 rooms available across 42 hotels for stays between November 1, 2011 and May 31, 2012.

Terms and conditions

1. The £20 promotional rate is per room per night, up to a maximum of two nights per booking, at selected Ramada hotels in the United Kingdom and Ireland, subject to availability. A map of participating properties is available above.

2. Promotional room availability displayed in the calendar view on the booking website is updated once per day Monday to Friday during the booking window and does not guarantee availability at time of booking.

3. One voucher, published in either The Daily Telegraph or The Sunday Telegraph, is required per room, per night booked. The correct number of vouchers must be presented on arrival at the hotel, i.e., one voucher for one night, two vouchers for two nights, and so on. Failure to present the correct number of vouchers will result in your booking being cancelled without refund. Vouchers cannot be sold or used by anyone other than the original recipient. Only original vouchers will be accepted. Photocopies and other reproductions will not be accepted.

4. To qualify for this offer you must book between Saturday, October 1, 2011 and Monday, October 10, 2011 inclusive at the given booking website. No more than three bookings per person can be made using this offer.

5. Stays must take place (beginning and ending) between Friday, November 1, 2011 and Thursday, May 31, 2012 inclusive. Availability of dates differs from hotel to hotel, and exclusions apply, subject to availability.

7. Additional nights (third or subsequent consecutive night(s)) can be booked separately at www.ramada.co.uk subject to availability and will be charged at the published best available rate.

A new hotel near Liverpool Street in London is offering 800 rooms at 2p for stays between 4 January and 27 May 2012.

How to book? Book via Tune Hotel’s site. The hotel is releasing 200-300 2p rooms at 8am each day on Wed, Thu and Fri this week (12-14 Oct). Yet of course, with so few rooms available, they're sure to go quickly, so be online at 8am sharp. The site is likely to be slow as treacle at 8am.

It won't be easy to find the deals; you'll have to search manually. Tune Hotels says it will not update its site each day when all rooms are gone; instead, it will give hints on which dates are still available via its Facebook page. If you find dates that work, please post them in the Tune Hotels forum thread.

When can I go? The sale rooms are available for stays 4 Jan to 27 May 2012.

What to watch out for? It's limited to one 2p room per person. There's normally a 1% debit and 1.75% credit fee (except for Visa Electron), but you don't have to p*y this for the 2p sale. Although if you also book a normal price room at the same time, you still have to p*y the fees.

Confusingly, you may notice it says there is a £10 'cancellation charge'. The press office has confirmed that people will not be charged if they cancel 2p nights. It just means when people cancel normal-price rooms within 72 hours of staying, they get a refund, minus a £10 admin fee.

What are the rooms like? This is a no frills hotel, opening in January, which will normally cost from £35 per night. It’s run on the budget airline model: while it’s clean and does the job, guests p*y extra for towels (£1.50), TVs (£3) and housekeeping (£7.50).

The Tune Hotel brand is already firmly established in Asia, and has one Hotel in London near Westminster (see Trip Advisor reviews).
