Redspottedhanky train website - Tips & Codes

#1 Post by yogi » Tue Apr 23, 2013 11:34 pm

A few people asked me at FMUKCON about the Redspottedhanky site and as it's saved a lot of us a lot of money recently I thought I'd post this.

I'm sure I don't know it all, so please feel free to add below if you have any other points/tips.

Firstly the site is just like any other train booking site such as http://www.trainline.com

You need to register at http://www.redspottedhanky.com/ and then you can search for and book travel as you would anywhere else. The prices seem competitive, but I still check with virgin trains site now and again to make sure.

The first advantage is that for every pound you spend you get loyalty points and you can quite quickly build these up to cash in for money off future travel. You can also cash them in for other offers similar to clubcard vouchers.

The next big advantage is all the one codes that seem to crop up for the site. MSE, The Telegraph, The Sun and HotUKDeals have all posted codes recently giving away £5 or £10 away at a time. They do all end up on FMUK at some point, but its good to keep a look out.

I tend to add codes to my account and another, say my OH's and book half a journey on one and the return on the other. The free travel soon adds up.

Finally redspottedhanky have recently run a couple of fantasy sports games where it's very easy to earn loyalty points without much knowledge of the sport. Last year there was an Olympic game with a maximum payout of £15 which it was almost impossible not to earn and this year it is Formula 1.

Here the link to the game or it's on the RSH homepage

http://fantasygp.games-redspottedhanky. ... ign=gpgame

Now I know very little about F1, but by picking 4 top drivers and then ignoring it for a few weeks I already have enough points for the max £15 credit at the end of the game.

Plus if you want to take it seriously I believe there are weekly prizes and prizes for the overall winner, guess you never know...

Maybe we could post future codes here as they tend to go pretty quickly.

And, I'm no expert, but feel free to ask me anything if the above isn't totally clear.

Hopefully next year we can all go to FMUKCON for free! :D

You can also use Tesco Clubcard vouchers - every £10 in Clubcard vouchers will give you £20 worth of e-vouchers.

http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/product.aspx?R=1916
Preferred cinemas:
Central London and North London as far north as the Hampstead Everyman including Picturehouse Hackney/Notting Hill Gate - but not Wood Green and North Finchley as they are just a bit too far.

Check your RSH account if you got a code yesterday as lots of people on MSE reporting theirs have disappeared.

Redspottedhanky.com Fantasy Tennis during Wimbledon

Potentially win Kindles, iPods etc, but main incentive is to build up up to 1500 points which can be swapped for £15 worth of vouchers.

Train booking website RedSpottedHanky is giving away £9.50 credit, when you b*y five copies of The Sun. There are 30,000 codes, first come first served, but as previous RedSpottedHanky giveaways have been MEGA popular (though they were totally free), you may need to move fast.

Important: This credit ISN'T guaranteed. The Sun expects all 30,000 codes to go super quick, so you could spend £2.80ish (five papers at 40p-50p plus 60p stamp) but not be in the first 30,000.

Here's how to get it:

Collect any five of seven different tokens printed in the paper (40p weekdays, 50p weekends) every day between Sat 15 and Fri 21 Jun.
Send off the five tokens plus an application form (see 'more info' for the address) - printed in the paper on Wed 19 Jun and available online at The Sun from that date.
If you're one of the first 30,000 to apply, RedSpottedHanky'll email you to confirm £9.50 credit has been added to your account.

Both new and existing RedSpottedHanky customers can get the credit and it's valid across the entire rail network (excluding Northern Ireland and sleeper services) for travel until 31 Aug 2013.
Preferred cinemas:
Vue West End, Cineworld Haymarket, Odeon West End, Odeon Leicester Square, Empire Leicester Square, Cineworld O2, Cineworld Shaftesbury Avenue and Odeon Panton Street, followed by anywhere in central(ish) London.
