Just to confirm - they obviously don't check as my annual one turned up today and I currently have a 1 month one!a_person wrote:Tried to do this for my sister but my computer went slow so I'm not sure if she got it or not as there are only a 1,000 anyway. Hope so....
It said "this offer is not open to former and current tastelondon members." - Haven't seen this before. I wonder if that applies to monthly memberships too.... If so, she has no chance!
Good luck to everyone.

Re: Free 1 month's membership Taste London
Viewlondon is giving a free trial of their 2for1 card and so is the evening standard for the gourmet society card. I am going to have more 2 for 1 restaurant cards then debit/credit cards soon! Business must be really bad for restaurants or probably all these cards are for the same restaurants like Pizza Express, Prezzo etc

I was going to ask whether someone was applying for a Gourment Society Card as I wasn't sure about the trial period thing and would you have to p*y afterwards, or is it just a card like TasteLondon which will only be valid for 3 months or so?

I've got a gourmet society one - 2 months free trial . I posted about it here about a month ago. I haven't used it yet but it seems to have a few more chain restaurants than Taste London.Beate wrote:I was going to ask whether someone was applying for a Gourment Society Card as I wasn't sure about the trial period thing and would you have to p*y afterwards, or is it just a card like TasteLondon which will only be valid for 3 months or so?

Hm, I tried to sign up for it but it said it would charge me £39 or something like that per month after the trial period if I don't send the card back before the end of said period so I abandoned the application as I really don't like to hand out credit card details if I don't intend to use it after the free period. The TasteLondon card is much simpler, no payment details required, it just expires after the month or year of validity.

Did the Gourmet society one ask for payment details? They didn't ask for that when I signed up for a 2 month free trail. It just expires after 2 months
Though there was an option to have 3 months if you gave payment details. It is then £39.95 for a year if you don't send the card back.
Maybe they have changed their offer, or maybe you clicked on the wrong option somewhere.
This is the link to the one that I used but I am not sure that it works any more

Thanks, I went through a different link with the Standard Card offers and it didn't give me options like that, just 2 months then p*y afterwards.

Hi-life card is doing a 2 month free trial offer as well:
www.hi-life.co.uk
But you have to enter card details as well and remember to send the card back before the trial ends.
Normally I wouldn't mind giving card details etc, I have done that with lovefilm and got free trials, but with the current problems with the post, I am worried if when I send the card back to them, it will be lost in the post or take a very long time to get back to them! and then I will be charged anyway

Re: Free 1 month's membership Taste London
Word of warning for Real Greek lovers: they now require a telephone booking! We had a bit of a surprise at Bankside today as they originally refused to honour the card. We had been there two weeks ago without any problems even though the manager said they changed the rules about 4 weeks ago, so how am I supposed to know we would run into problems? We made such a fuss though that he gave us the discount just to get rid of us I guess - but I am going to complain. TasteLondon never sent an email about the change although they did with PizzaExpress!

They are finally cracking down on the 1 month trials I think, I tried applying again online and it says I have had the trial already.
