Wasn't sure whether to put it here but have decided to do so as in alot of the cineworlds (well... at least the ones I use), tickets are at least £7.00 so that's still a saving of £2 and it is also a screening prior to the actual release of the film...

EDIT: It seems to be at the same cinemas as the free screening with 'TellTen' on 3rd Jan @ 4pm

http://www.cineworld.co.uk/news/170/detail

Cineworld is joining forces with Have a Heart, Heart’s new charity and will run a number of charity screenings throughout 2010, with all proceeds going to worthwhile causes. The first film to be screened will be It’s Complicated on Sunday 3rd January, a hilarious new comedy starring Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. Tickets cost £5 and can be b*ght online or in person at participating Cineworld Cinemas.

Have a Heart is Heart’s new charity and aims to make a difference by building a better future for the children living in our communities, especially those who are vulnerable, face adversity, are living with a disability or illness and are deprived of the childhood that every young person deserves. Have a Heart will specialise in funding local grass roots projects in your communities.
Member No. 2 of the "100 free films in 2015" club. 3 seen, 97 to go!
Realistic target: 5

Preferred cinema list:
1) Cineworld: West India Quays or Greenwich, 02, Vue Westfield - Stratford City or Picturehouse Stratford
2) Picturehouse Greenwich
3) Any central London cinema including Islington (excluding Shepherd's Bush, and Whiteleys unless it's some super duper cool film)
4) Odeon Greenwich or Odeon Surrey Quays

6 Mnth "free" cinema passes when you b*y portable dvd player

#83 Post by Preston1990 » Thu Jan 07, 2010 3:03 pm

Hi,

Just spotted this - I don't know whether its a good deal or not (so please use your own judgement), but it looked like the sort of thing that may interest some folk on here o/

Basically Toshiba are offering 6 months worth of free Odeon cinema tickets when you b*y certain types of Toshiba Portable DVD players. They define 6 months worth as 12 tickets - max use of 2 per month.

The link to the Toshiba Terms and Conditions is at http://www.toshiba.co.uk/cinema. Once there, click on "Full terms and conditions apply" just above picture of DVD Player. Note - Some Odeon cinemas are excluded from the deal.

I spotted it on the Tesco Direct website - They had a qualifying portable Toshiba player for just under £100. Search their site for "Toshiba portable DVD player". I am sure other retailers probably sell them cheaper too.

edit - just spotted the same player on amazon for under £90

edit 2 - The deal runs out at the end of January 2010 - so you'll need to get your skates on if you are going to go for it (which is probably a good thing with all this weather we've been having!! :D

Pick up 2 for 1 cinema tickets for It's Complicated!
On Sunday January 24, Mail on Sunday readers can pick up a voucher to take a friend for free to cinemas nationwide to see the hilarious comedy It's Complicated starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin.

Another fantastic comedy from the writer and director of Something’s Gotta Give, What Women Want and The Holiday, it's the must-see film about love, divorce and everything in between.
Jane (Streep) is the mother of three grown kids, owns a thriving Santa Barbara bakery/restaurant and has—after a decade of divorce—an amicable relationship with her ex-husband, attorney Jake (Baldwin).

But when Jane and Jake find themselves out of town for their son’s college graduation, things start to get complicated.

An innocent meal together turns into the unimaginable—an affair!

With Jake remarried to the much younger Agness (Lake Bell), Jane is now, of all things, the other woman.

Caught in the middle of their renewed romance is Adam (Martin), an architect hired to remodel Jane’s kitchen. Healing from a divorce of his own, Adam starts to fall for Jane, but soon realizes he’s become part of a love triangle.
Should Jane and Jake move on with their lives, or is love truly lovelier the second time around? It’s…complicated.
For more information or to watch the trailer visit www.itscomplicatedthemovie.co.uk

How To Claim
Simply b*y the Mail on Sunday on January 24, 2010 to get your voucher. Then present it at the box office of any ODEON cinema, Cineworld Cinema, Vue Cinema or Empire Cinema showing it’s Complicated between January 24 and January 28 inclusive and you will get one free ticket when you p*rchase another ticket of equal or greater value.

Bit late for one of these vouchers, but yesterday I picked up the current brochure from my local "Screen" cinema (now rebranding as "Everyman") and there are 3 vouchers towards the back. Not sure if the London sites will have the same brochure/deals.

The first will only remain valid today and tomorrow, as it's for £2 OFF, Mon - Thurs until 31st January
The second is for a free glass of wine throughout February - it doesn't even say you have to see a film!
The third is for a 2nd ticket at half-price, Mon - Thurs during February

They are still pushing their eye-wateringly expensive membership scheme, btw, but at least they have now divided into two, one for London and one for Surrey/Hants.
