Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

#1 Post by helenecolin » Mon Sep 13, 2021 12:46 pm

Went to see it on release day, and it's by far my favourite Marvel movie of the year (I really enjoyed Black Widow, but this one topped it). I found the story compelling, the fighting scenes were amazingly choreographed and the cast was just on point.

It feels like a lot of care went into this movie, way more than for most Marvels, and I could really see that. This movie is well worth it!

this big budget western wuxia is mostly fun. There is a lot of FX in it, so if thats your crutch then you'll be in for a treat.

The screen got quite dark towards the end and the film was overlong at that point too, so it felt a bit of a stretch in that final straight.

The cast turned up at the BFI fan screening (they were only a few feet from us!) which is pretty cool of them. Awkwafina (real name?) is v pretty n funneeeee but a little underused in the movie.

there are 2 credit scenes, both worth seeing.

3.5 stars

Can't believe it's Meng'er Zhang's first film, she could be huge off the back of this.

One of my favourites from Marvel, loved it. 9/10
