Re: Avengers Assemble
Saw this in a very quiet Braehead tonight. I realise it's an older film but no tickets were available so can only assume that folk took tickets thinking it was the new one ie Guardians and then neither cancelled nor came!
I don't know how I managed to miss this film first time around but have to say I enjoyed some real action escapism! Mind you . . . I thought next week's film "Guardians of the Galaxy" was a follow on film! Shows how much I know!

Re: Avengers Assemble
I thought the very same - and after enjoying the film so much last night, I'm now a bit disappointed that it's not a follow on!McG wrote: Mind you . . . I thought next week's film "Guardians of the Galaxy" was a follow on film! Shows how much I know!

Re: Avengers Assemble
GOTG is not strictly a follow on, however it is set in the same universe and will be introducing a big marvel villain which the Avengers will probably battle in a future film.

Re: Avengers Assemble
I really enjoyed this. Lots of funny moments throughout the film. Considering it was a long film, which always makes me jittery, it flew by. Massive thumbs up from me 9/10

Re: Avengers Assemble
I never understand why people compare The Avengers and The Dark Knight trilogy. Yes, they're both comic book movies but beyond that there should be no comparison. TDK takes the characters of the comics and puts them into a cinematic world which is not too dissimilar to our own and attempts to keep its feet on the ground (as much as possible within reason). They are fantastic dramatic films which put grit and realism before a suspension of disbelief. Whereas The Avengers is much more of a direct translation of the Marvel comics to screen, right down to cineamtography being shots that could've been lifted right from a frame. It is lighthearted and suspends disbelief putting the ridiculous right up there alongside the realistic aspects (such as using an arrow to hack one of the most secure systems in the world).tonethestone wrote:Always thought this film was overrated, guess I saw around Dark Knight trilogy which is a mile above Avengers.
