F.Y.I

Due to the vintage footage the film will be shown on approx 1/3 of the big screen.

I got this of the BFI website.

Dont know about anyone else but coupled with the early start this makes it even less appealing to me.

1/3 of the screen!!!!! Thats awful, because you are sitting in a nice cinema with a nice screen and you know they are not using it to it's potential. They might as well screen it at little Panton Street..Have to consider sending tickets back to SFF.....

I saw this today and thought it was great (coming from someone who knows zilch about surfing!). Really engaging, fantastic footage and nicely edited - much, much better than I expected. The first time I'd seen anything at the IMAX as well.

My husband and I saw this today. We thought it was awful.

My husband writes:

No, worse than awful. Quite phenomenally boring and self-congratulatory from the first few seconds. If you aren't a member of the Hawaiian surfing scene I can't imagine why anyone should find this film in the slightest bit interesting. It's full of immensely self-satisfied middle aged surfers emitting soundbites like "30 foot waves", "I couldn't believe the vibe", ""It all changed in 1976", "Rabbit was amazing but I was more amazing." And why was it shown at the Imax? All the footage was of rather grainy 1970s surfers (when you've seen 10 seconds you've seen it all) or 2009 talking heads. The only potentially interesting bit was about a turf war and various thugs but that wasn't properly developed. The worst documentary I have seen in my life, I simply closed my eyes, it was so tedious.
