Re: I give it a year
I saw this today and thought it was very mediocre! As Anna has already mentioned Portsmouth was 100% full.
On to the film, well the first started off promising but slowly lost humour . There was some laugh out loud scenes but these were few and far between. I thought that Stephen Merchant stole the show, even though he had little screen time! Overall the comic talent was wasted!
6/10 (although think I'm being to generous)

A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"
A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

Re: I Give It a Year
Mediocre, I don't think Richard Curtis has anything to worry about here.
Wimbledon was pretty full, I had someone come in and sit next to me, who was 20 mins late. then proceeded to turn round to her mate behind, to get popcorn. She laughed like a drain, and made comments all the way through. This made me feel like I was odd, not finding it funny. The guys in the film were likeable enough but the women, apart from the marriage guidance counsellor, were a total pain. Stephen Merchant stole the film as previously said. 6/10
Saw Tilly and Jeanelle there

Re: I Give It a Year
Back from Braehead. Surprisingly for a SKY screening there were very faces I recognised.
Well this film could had been good but failed miserably. It was average at best. Some laugh out bits but as someone said few and far in between the "plot". Actually found Merchant a bit offensive when he was trying to be funny. Trying to hard. The story was predictable. We all knew what was going to happen.
Hard to believe Guy and Chloe getting together when there was no chemistry whatever between them and after Guy declaring he would do anything to get Nat.
The fact I have to ask OH the characters' names whilst I write this shows the impression this film has left me.
I Give It 5/10

Re: I Give It a Year
Oh dear, I so wanted to like this but the laughs were few and far between and no out-loud moments for me. Saw it at Bournemouth which was maybe 80% full. People expecting the next Four Weddings will be disappointed. Glad I didn't p*y for it. 5/10

Re: I Give It a Year
Saw this today at a packed Wimbledon.
Good to catch up with valda and jeanelle.
I have to admit I enjoyed it though best jokes were in trailer. It was original and there were a few laugh out moments. My oh loved it so I'm guessing more a guys film.
7/10 from me

Re: I Give It a Year
I dragged myself (and OH) out into the cold this evening without any high expectation that I'd enjoy it but I found myself laughing out loud, along with some cringing of course!
Mostly well known cast or people you could spot from TV shows, I didn't know that the crazy sister Laura from Him and Her is Russell Howard's sister until I checked some names on imdb.
Anyway, not unmissable but funny enough and good to see both Stephen Merchant and Olivia Colman in support.
Also lovely to see tilly and Valda.
