The Odd Life of Timothy Green
I saw this in the US. A film requiring permanent willing suspension of disbelief and the ability to see past a predictable and often cloyingly sugary script. I could not warm to this film in spite of wanting to and would reassure those unable to get tickets for upcoming previews not to despair. In another time and place this would be straight- to-DVD fodder.

Re: The Odd Life of Timothy Green
Problems already at the Telegraph screening at the Courthouse Hotel. Tickets all say come at 10am for a 10:30 start, but apparently the projectionist isn't meant to turn up until 11.
Because it specifically says 10:30 start on the tickets and given that its Mother's Day I imagine this could mess up people's reservations and the like I don't think this is quite on. Just needs to be organized a little better. Thoughts on film to come after the screening.

This is a beuatiful film! Loved it. Perfect for a Sunday morning. Is simply a fairytale. Bring hankies, buckets and mops. Lovely original family story. Feel ever so slightly let down by ending, but only just.
And my score on the door is...........8/10.

Cineworld Unlimited is cheating! ;-)

Screening problems resolved quickly so screening started on time. I thought it was adorable. Maybe people found it predictable or sugary sweet as stated above, but you have to remember its a children's film. And I thought it was new and unique.
Re: The Odd Life of Timothy Green
An odd film subject for children in my opinion, would they really understand the emotions of the tale or am I not giving the youth of today the benefit of the doubt or doesn't it matter? Very Sunday afternoon, all American family goodness affair, ultra white teeth and not a hair out of place, was enjoyable though and I totally agree with the straight to dvd comment.

Not very busy at Westerhailes this morning - I guess more people had gone to Cineworld for the Croods. A delightful film, usual American cheesy, but it was rather like a modern take on Pinocchio. Solid 7/10 for me.

Re: The Odd Life of Timothy Green
I thought it was odd that it was a kids' film, but at the Courthouse this morning, there were only three young children I spotted, two of them were with us. They thought it was really sad. They are 10-years old and both quite mature for their age, so got it. They gave it 10 out of 10, but I'm not sure if they were being polite because we'd taken them or maybe it was because OH had his eyes closed throught most of it and that amused them.
I thought it was ok. Shame it was only maybe a quarter full.
Think an average 7/10 from the seven of us.
The highlight of the event was that David and I both wore our Arsenal scarves with pride to the cinema. Nice of the hotel to give us water.
