Lore

As the Allies sweep across Germany, Lore leads her siblings on a journey that exposes them to the truth of their parents' beliefs. An encounter with a mysterious refugee forces Lore to rely on a person she has always been taught to hate.

Re: Lore
For once a view of WWII's aftermath from the other side.
Superb! Go and see it.

Re: Lore
We saw this yesterday at Hackney Picturehouse. Yes, it is a very impressive film but unrelenting. I felt completely drained at the end and said to husband -- please can we see something happy soon?
Hackney P'house has great deals for Seniors on Tues and Thurs afternoons. Before 3pm films cost £2.50 and after 3pm it's £4. And with your ticket you are entitled to a cup of coffee (cappuccino even) and biscuit.
Almost makes it worthwhile being ancient.

Re: Lore
You're not ancient - you're mature like a good cheese. Or as the London Walks folks call people over 60 - a super adult. I love that.
I'd really like to see this film too but not sure how long Greenwich PH is showing it for and I am strapped for time this week.

Re: Lore
I guess I need to give you my review on this.
I am sorry guys but I was disappointed. This was incredibly slow-moving - you saw them walking, getting dirty, endlessly scrubbing themselves, trying to get food, walking, getting dirty, endlessly scrubbing themselves... over and over again, ending up with this guy accompanying them, not liking him, liking him, losing him, arriving at Grandma's house.... the performances were seriously good and yes, I get the different perspective to the usual movies about this era, but there's a reason for this - it's just not all that interesting. It's very bleak, that's all. Yes, there were these sudden scenes involving death but it didn't make me care for the characters.
6/10
On a different note, I was incredibly surprised that an 18:15 screening at the PH Greenwich actually started the film at 18:20. We had just about sat down, arranged our stuff and got comfy when it started! We weren't the only ones caught out as there were some latecomers, though not everyone sat in their allocated seats which I know because I booked online and the seats I wanted were gone but stayed half-empty throughout. Also, I don't know why in a relatively empty screening I always get the fidgeter next to me who constantly rearranges their legs? Universe, what have I done to you?
