Welcome To The Punch

#1 Post by ISMADDER » Mon Feb 18, 2013 5:55 pm

Ex-criminal Jacob Sternwood (Mark Strong) is forced to return to London when his son is involved in a heist gone wrong. This gives his nemesis, detective Max Lewinsky (James McAvoy), one last chance to catch the man he’s always been after.

Saw it last month, wasn't a fan. More po-faced than The Sweeney, yet still trying to be an enjoyable action film. Didn't work, looked mediocre at best, character work was trite and it rambled on until an unsatisfying climax reared its ugly head.

I've been reading the critics' reviews on IMDB (no other type yet) and have been amused by some of their efforts to sum up the film, including "a bullet ballet" and "a British film dressed up in American clothing". Worth a look from me; hoping though that it's not too violent.

I just got back from seeing this film. I didn't really enjoy it at all, found it confusing and quite boring. 4/10
