Went to Vue Finchley Road last night for this. Was pleasantly surprised that Screen 3 was huge in a small screening room, and really good views wherever you sat and the seats were really comfy. Lovely to be joined by ritamistry and funthing. The screening was pretty full too.

I was really touched by the film, and did shed a tear or two at the end. However, I did find it a bit too slow paced and too long in the middle. Really enjoyed watching Emily Watson and Geoffrey Rush though, great performances, as well as the children who played Liesel and Rudy. Lots of humorous bits that lighten the heavy subject. 8/10

Going to see this tonight. It's one of my favourite books ever so I am glad to see most of you enjoyed it as I was worried how certain things would translate to screen.

I quite enjoyed it; thought it was a bit saggy in the middle and the German accented English with the occasional Ja or Nein seemed like a cop-out, but by and large it worked. Very pretty film too, loved the snow standing in for the ashes of Holocaust.

Didn't so much enjoy the guy in front of me browsing the internet on his phone during the film at Finchley Road, had to kick his seat and then ask him directly to knock it off about 15 mins later. Honestly, if you think the film is that dull just leave - it's not like you've pa*d money to see it.

A really good film with fantastic performances from the cast.
Beautiful cinematography throughout and very emotional towards the end. I admit to shedding some tears at the end. I also likes the way that they combined the English and the German together, was worried about that.
Overall great film.

Very saddening story.

brilliant, showed the multi faceted aspects of the war and how it affected various generations, nationalities and marginalized groups.....especially appreciated seeing it from a young person's viewpoint. Real surprises as far as the action was concerned and so emotional throughout.....we were wet dish rags by the end of it. Total bawlfest.....we were still crying all the way home.

Take your tissues.......9/10

This film was like a beautiful melody with not a wrong note, excellent cinematography, sensitive acting-considering it was set in Germany in the Nazi era it caught what it was like to be a real human being caught up in a time of unspeakable inhumanity perfectly-I thoroughly enjoyed it.
