It looked colourful and at times stunning (the scenes where lots of different animals came together for a song, like the "I just can't wait to be king" bit from The Lion King, though not as good) but yeh gods was I bored throughout this film! Thank heavens for the breakfast spread as the sugar rush kept me awake, something the film wouldn't have been able to do on its own. Possibly more enjoyable if you have seen the first one (which I've only seen a little bit of as it also bored me).
The best bit about the screening (other than the food) was seeing Justin Lee Collins and Rufus Hound who were there to see it with their respective kids.
5/10

Re: Rio 2
This is not as strong as Rio but I still found it enjoyable. It was probably a tad too long but I still liked it and there were some excellent additions to the voice cast. 7/10.

Re: Rio 2
Rio it was not. But it was colorful. Recommeding to friends with kids to not bother with the cinema and to wait for it on DVD.

Re: Rio 2
Certainly not a patch on the first film and why do animated films these days always have to have a moral message.

Re: Rio 2
Went with a voucher. I enjoyed this, though not as much as the first one. I thought there were too many storylines going on at once. They were cramming in city vs. countrylife, difficult father-in-laws and not fitting in somewhere, revenge (Nigel), a strange lovestory with a poisonous frog, gangwar with the red parrots, good humans, bad humans, the destruction of the rainforest, a "Jungle's got Talent" competition and too many jokes about iPaws. Also, did they sing that much in the first one?
But still enjoyable and very colourful. 8/10

Re: Rio 2
Wasn't that impressed with the first film (a low 6/10 at best) which I only got around to watching at the weekend so was hoping this (despite the reviews above) would be an improvement.
Unfortunately although it was marginally better I still found it difficult to get into, yes it was visually very nice indeed but I just couldn't connect with the characters & the story felt rather generic...although I did quite enjoy the 'Avatar'esque climax .
For the most part it just didn't work for me so I can only give it a middling 6/10...
