Quaint unassuming French flavoured whimsy.
Clear to see how this could have been a play before, but with the added bonus now of a real Parisienne backdrop.
Great to see Margaret Smith looking so good. Solid performAnces from all concerned.
Still don't quite understand the musical interlude though. Lol.

Re: My Old Lady
You could see it was adapted from a play - too much talking and too much "My father never loved me" whingeing. Apart from that it was tolerable, sometimes funny,, and Kevin Kline has a beautiful singing voice, though like steve I wasn't sure what that was about. And why was the French never subtitled?

Re: My Old Lady
I also went to a preview of The Old Lady last night...Maggie Smith, Kevin Kline.. it started ok, faltered in the middle and then speeded up towards the end. My personal view is, it would have been better as a Play.
I wondered that too Beate about the Sub-titles.
I thought it was very worthy.

Re: My Old Lady
I assumed the French wasn't subtitled so that we were as much in the dark as Kevin Kline's character was.
