At Cineworld Wembley, the Times+ rep had to enter the booking reference into his phone from each ticket before letting us in, when I asked why he did not just bleep the barcode he said he did not have the app! ;) So took ages to let everyone in, and the film started about 12 minutes late. We were about 75% full.

Well, me and my whole family loved it except the last half an hour, thought it was weird and did not expect a Disney film to have such an ending. We loved the satire/spoof of the fairy tales, it was funny, and enjoyed the music and songs. Great singing from the young leads and, specially Emily Blunt, what a surprise, and a good comedy actress too. Loved the princes competing against each other in song at the waterfall, hilarious. Our audience did seem to want to clap after each song! The little boy, probably around 8 or 9 years old, next to my OH was on the edge of his seat. 8/10

We really liked it-the songs were catchy and it kept my 4 year old and 7 year old entertained! If you hate musicals-give this a miss!

Same here. We loved it. Been a Sondheim fan since seeing Into the Woods over 20 years ago. 9/10

I really enjoyed this and suspect this is likely to be one of my top films of 2015. The vocals were excellent, it was well acted and Rob Marshall really brought the story to life. My only criticism is that the Disneyfying of the story has glossed over some of the darker elements of the show (death, murder, adultery etc) but it still maintains a whimsical yet subversive vision of fairytales. 9/10.

Terrible film with over lavish production, yet under produced singing. Corden is completely miscast and sucks the life out of the film when on screen. The only bit I enjoyed was Chris Pine hamming it up during his first song.
Also all the songs seem to have the same melody all the way through. I cannot truly describe how much this movie grated on me.

This is Mamma Mia for 2015.

I have always loved this on stage. Best production was at Regent Park Open Air Theatre.
I was lucky enough to be in New York for Christmas so went to see the movie there. Loved it!
Great performances from James Corden and Emily Blunt. Highly recommended.

Any thoughts on Into The Woods?

#19 Post by simon0169 » Sat Jan 10, 2015 11:24 am

Hi guys, just a brief introduction I manage a small Independent Cinema in North Herts, as well as being a long term user of FMUK.
Just putting together our February/March programme anyone think Into the Woods has appeal beyond children for an evening and also a matinee screening
