Sausage Party
Though aware that Sausage Party is an animation aimed at adults I was still quite unprepared for just how filthy it gets, especially at the end. And I mean REALLY filthy.
Also amidst all the unsurprising constant swear words, food based puns and pot related humour is a surprisingly smart look at religion and faith (including a hilarious look at the Israeli/Palestine conflict via a bagel and a piece of lavash bread which suggests they should be able to get along due to their shared love of hummus).
That also means that there's something to offend everybody.
The humour can be hit and miss and the ending has all the hallmarks of a project nobody involved knew quite how to end but when it's funny, it's very funny.
Add to that a fantastic voice cast with some of the best US comic actors around including Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, Nick Kroll, Craig Robinson, Michael Cera, Paul Rudd, Bill Hader, Danny McBride (plus Edward Norton channeling Woody Allen as the bagel and Salma Hayek as a taco) and there's much to enjoy.
But as I said before, it is incredibly filthy and also takes a perverse joy in the myriad ways that food can be 'killed', so it won't be everyone's cup of tea. Fans of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's style of humour should be more than satisfied however.

Re: Sausage Party
I had hoped it would be an 18 certificate and until the ending when I was totally shocked, I felt it wasn't dirty enough tbh.
The way it looked at religion was novel and got the point across if a little heavy handed but I'm all for the offend everyone approach. No beliefs or religion should be above being targeted by comedians.
Thinking about that ending, I am surprised it was given a 15 cert because it was totally filthy!

Re: Sausage Party
I was finding it very hit and miss but loved the political nods. Was very surprised at the very dirty scene towards the end! Wasn't expecting that at all! Filth!

Re: Sausage Party
Saw this today using Limitless card. Only me and one couple in the cinema.
The film is reasonably entertaining and definitely loved the idea of humans as Gods and food going to some kind of heaven when they leave the store. Also enjoyed the middle east political dig.
There is one scene lasting just over 5 mins which is the so called 'filth' but it's less shocking as it's a cartoon! I certainly would be choosey about who I would advise to see it.
Marks 6/10

Re: Sausage Party
Love early Sunday morning screening when it is just us two in a 350+ seats screen.
The film was alright. Thought I would enjoyed it more but I do think the best bits were in the trailers. Glad it wasn't any longer than 1 hour 30 mins. 5/10
